Thread: A catch in free download time

I've heard that there's a catch with the free download time that BSNL offers, i.e. that your download should _begin_ after 2 am for the GB not to be counted; if the download started before 2 am and then continues into happy time, then all the stuff that you download during happy time will still be counted against your monthly quota. Is this true? Generally speaking, could somebody give me an idea of whether there are any things that I should be aware of about the happy time (2 am to 8 am)?

Is there a particular software that anybody can recommend for scheduling downloads?

ur modem must be dis-connected and connected to DSLAM after 2AM (BSNL System time) to count for free download.

^^ This maybe true for the newer subscribers. But for older subscribers with 59.xx.xx.xx IP range, the usage is calculated seperately even in instances of overlaps.

No, all the stuff which you downlod not counted during free hours, even you log in before 2AM and start your downlod after 2AM. Some MB will add.

my exchange guys have informed me that for NIB II, unless its a fresh login after 2 AM, the free download would not be available

No i don't think that accurately they did that.Normally BSNL break the duration in between 2:00 AM to 2:30 AM if you continuously login and started before 2 AM(some thing like 1:20 AM or 1:30AM) then upto 2:30 AM usage charge will be apply to you.After 2:30 AM they will may consider as free usage hour but we never know that confidently, some times they charge you entire night unlimited time by mistake. So better disconnect at 1:59 AM and reconnect it 2:02 AM.

in reality, the BSNL billing system isn't at par with industry standards, too many glitches, ever heard of people with bills upto 1,00,000 rs? BSNL has..

so better safe than sorry. disconnect and reconnect after 2 AM to make sure u r not charged
