    1) U using bridged mode or router/pppoe mode?
    2) Have u forwarded the required port for torrent downloads?
    3) Which AV/Anti-Spyware software are u using?
    4) Please post the line details as listed in the modem web interface.

There is something termed access-concentrators in every state. BSNL switches all users to some common access-concentrators by 2am. It means whenever we establish a connection after 1am and before 8am, we will get connected to the common access-concentrator. Since it happens to everyone, congestion occurs as only some of the concentrators are online and no matter how many times, we try reconnecting, we will get connected to such congested concentrators only.

After 8am, the traffic is routed normally using the concentrators present in the specific state(s). Hence we experience better speeds after 8am.

PS : Taken from an earlier post by me on a rival broadband community.

Trust me the cable disruptions are given much hype in the newspapers and indian media. Plenty of people think they are doomed when a cable is broken in egypt. Slow speeds will be reflected during the repair period. After repairing the cable everything is resumed normally just like the olden days. But still some have this lingering feeling that their speed is not upto the mark (no offence please).

It could be pure conicidental that the AC in his district was configured to work just like i mentioned by Dec 2008.

    Opinions are welcome .

Everything is same except his system and his sytem is knew so first of all all system files and his operating system is updating itself . Suppose he is having xp setrvice pack-2 which is genuine to first xp sp-3 will we install and in genuine system automatic update is on same in vista so everything is accessing net so he may get less speed

tell me one thing ur system in assembled or branded.

U have to understand that windows uses just 20% of the available bandwidth for updating purposes on one condition, which is he is using the rest of the bandwidth for high speed downloads. Meaning if he is downloading at 220 kBps then only 20% of the it will be taken for updating purposes. That inturn has nill effect on what he has stated as problem in here.

BTW had a sneak peek on your profile, your occupation is listed as Telecom Engineer. Seems like indeed u are working for BSNL, and thats why u have so much of JPEGS and manuals to share, which are only found in BSNL intranetwork. I hope that doesnt come as a boomerang to your career.

    Just my $0.02 !!
