Rep Power: 4 | yes, it definitely does. but it also depends on the quality of video ur sending , so the usage might be too high for a high quality , or min for low quality |

Rep Power: 9 | a normal chat has only text. which is only a few kB. a video chat send video and audio data which involves much higher volume of data (often in mB) so it'll definitely incerase ur BB use |

| Gold Member | Anything you do on Internet eates on usage, so spend wisely. Here is a nice tool for you: ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter remains in tray and displays the approximate bandwidth consumed for the session, day and month. This will be useful for people with limited bandwidth/month. Features * Option to make meter always visible. * Transparency of meter can be adjusted. * Option to exclude bandwidth during certain period of day. * Shortcuts to enable/disable flash and images in Internet Explorer Download ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter 1.3 (101 KB) |

| Amor vincit omnia | Various compression algorithms are implemented by vendors like yahoo, skype, msn. It would be better to experiment with the different suites available and zero in on the one which utilizes the least bandwidth. Personally i would vote for Skype too. |

Rep Power: 9 | In my experience also SKYPE utilises least bandwidth among the commonly used IM/Chat programs. And Yahoo uses max. Gtalk is somewhere in between. |
