in how many days u get BB connection

If it is more than 1 month then select option 8 days

if it is more than 1 month then select option 8 days

or tell me how to edit poll

User name and password takes only two- three days from noc side . But main problem is that exchange people are not sending them to noc so connection is having delay. I told u that in my district i take maximum three days for provising if u are having landline. And really here service is fast

i dont know but here it is taking max one weel that why i gave up to 8 days only

if ur area is not having lanline facility then it can take time but if ur having ll then what

a fiction does not become fact just because somebody continues to rant the same line over and over again.
ok just poll no problem how much time it is taking and thanks

BSNL bb connection takes a lot of time to finally get implemented ... at least in kolkata its like that ... 1-2 months is no surprise ... update those options in the poll

Took 4 months for me back in 2005. Had applied by December 2004, was provisioned by April 2005.

These days they are selling connections like hot cakes. In here it takes a max of three days for the connection to be setup.

There is no certain pattern and it all depends upon the exchange - even within the same city.

For instance, my friend in Pune got his connection in 3 days. For me, it took 3+ months.

In my case it took nearly a month, that too after I personally installed the modem by getting help from others.

They told me that it is the modem that is the cause of the delay. But I don't know really whether if anyone arranges own modem then how long does it take.

If modem allocation was indeed the problem, then you could have opted for your own modem. And the whole waiting period can be minimized. BSNL is facing acute shortage of modems.

Actually, I came to know about Modem issue much later, when I have already applied and my application was under process.

Arranging your own modem is not enough, you must be having the username and password created by bsnl for you.

BSNL usually states the following: Sir we do not have spare modems to give u. But we have already created your account, and if u can source your own modem, we will activate your account and u can start using it.

For me it took almost a year for BSNL to give the connection . I applied in Fe 08 and got the connection in Dec 2008. They didn't set up the connection just installed the modem and left saying they don't set up in Vista only in XP ( Note that the router was not properly connected to the line. The esisting cable from line to phone was connect to the splitter instead of the coming alog with the router. I have changed the same). I got the userid/pwd on phone and set up in Linux the vista is just the O/S pre-loaded with the system. I use Linux all the time at home.

In my case, I can say that. The broadband facility was not available in our place. It took 1 and a half year or more to activate this facility to our exchange first. and that was done by writing application to top officials of our circles, then requesting higher officials etc, etc. But after the provisioning of the facility to our exchange it took only 2 days to get myself connected to BB network.

    Very Right.
The User ID & Password gets generated centralised and that again takes time.
In my case, for 3 weeks, the stock answer was,
"Sir, we have forwarded the request for User ID. Its yet to be generated"

well u must be living at a place where very few people request for BSNL BB service. So turnaround time is low.
But as is evident from most users, the general time is somewhere between 1 mth to 3 months. May be u need to revise the poll as
    < 15 days
    15 days - 1 month
    1 - 2 months
    2 - 3 months
    > 3 months

It took 1 weeks for me to get the connection. The reason, my uncle knew a guy in the telephone exchange. Otherwise It would have taken more than a month.

Even i was thinking on the same lines. getting connected within 8 days is something unheard of with BSNL. It takes a minimum of 14 days. Because they maintain a connection priority list and connections are given out according to that list. However if u are a BSNL employee, or if u have contacts in the broadband section of your exchange, the name can be pushed further up the list with little coaxing.

There are few factors that are involved in determine how much time does it really take.

At the initial stage when DATAONE lauched, my friend got it in less that a week. But later when the demands increased, in my case, as I said earlier it took a longer time, but still considering to others I got it much earlier. Because I told them that I will take care of the modem install.

In my case, when I enquired why it is taking so long, I was told that they have send my application the next day itself for processing. But it takes time to get the username and password. And that did take a long time (about 2+ weeks), in respect of my expectation (7 days max). I got a SMS in this respect.

So in all, if one buys the modem from the market and stays in a metro city, then may be it will take 15-20 days as per my quess. This 15-20 days is still a low value in comparison to what I found in my exchange. It takes more than 3 weeks to get the broadband connection there. I myself have seen a pile of applications there.

May be in other parts of the country situation varies on a exchange to exchange basis but definitely for me it took a lot of time to get the connection.

this the reason its difficult to even think of shifting to bsnl for regular net addicts ... the waiting time can be really frustrating

it took me 2 months for landline connection and another 15 days for BB connection. it all depends on the local exchange guys. if you can bribe them then you will definitely get it in less then a week. one of my friend got it this way.
