Unhappy Kept my download on all night..now doesnt connect

    Hi All,

I have a unique problem(I dont know if its posted before).

    I have a Home 750 UL plan

The other day I had kept my connection ON all night..when I woke up the next morning..the connection was there but my browser wasnt connecting to any website..

Thankfully it connected again when I tried later. Then again I kept my connection ON all night and in the morning it wont connect. This time though I wasnt lucky and the connection is down for the past 2 Days.. I have called BSNL call center and they said they will forward my complaint to the Technical People..

I checked out my router log during this time and here it is for you:

Please help me out with this.. I tried google search and found some people(from other countries) had the same problem, but their solutions were different(which I feel wont work in my case)

Both my ADSL and Wireless lights show GREEN on my ADSL Router. I dont think there is any problem with the Router as I have already checked with another spare Router. About the DNS Server, I also tried connecting to an user defined connection to the "preferred" and "alternate" servers provided by the Call center guy. So it might not be even the DNS server.

Please let me know what to do.. thanks in advance

    1) Was the problem one which had recently cropped up?
    2) Do u notice the modem getting overheated?
    3) When trying to make a complaint did BSNL inform u about any ongoing works on broadband division?
    4) What is your modem make/model? If possible post the line statistics as given in the modem.

    4(a)Mention modem model/make.
    5.(b)Try opendns 208.67.222.222. and 208.67.220.220
    6.(c)Check in WAN page
    Idle time settings

    7.Update :
My ADSL router modem is configured as bridge mode
and it has an internal DHCP server. It issue IP
address to my LAN card and giving WAN IP address to

the ADSL dialup when Internet is connected. The
issue was gone when I hardcode an IP for the network
    to the bridge connection.

    1. Run CMD
    2. Type in "ipconfig"
    3. Write down the IP address of the network card
(not the WAN IP address), which is normally
    192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x
    4. type "exit" to close the CMD box.

    5. Right click "My network places" then click
    "properties"
    6. Right click the network card in "Network
    connections" then click properties"
    7. Highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click
    "Properties" button

    8. Select "Use the following IP address:" and key in
the IP address you just wrote down and then put
    255.255.255.0 as Subnet mask.
    9. Click OK to save the settings.

    Hi cool_techie_tvm

    1) Was the problem one which had recently cropped up?
Yes this problem has recently cropped up. I have been using broadband for a few months now. But the WHOLE NIGHT thing is new.

    2) Do u notice the modem getting overheated?
No. It didnt. Actually I dont think the modem problem might exist as I have already tried with a different router. But the same problem.

    3) When trying to make a complaint did BSNL inform u about any ongoing works on broadband division?
I asked them about any line problems or similar problems being reported, they said they didnt have any.

    4) What is your modem make/model? If possible post the line statistics as given in the modem.
I am currently in my office so wont be able to give you the line statistics.(pinging to yahoo.com failed)
    My model: UTSTARCOM

    Thanks for your help.

    Michael

The line statistics in the modem is required inorder to verify and exclude the telephone line from the scene. The Downstream SNR and attenuation are important factors which contribute to disconnection problems mentioned by you.

Please keep the thread updated with your findings later this day.

Hey is the ADSL link light in the modem lighting up? Then only u will be able to see the line statistics in the modem. Else it would not be listed as modem is not getting signals from the exchange.

yes, i will indeed keep on checking this thread for developments. Thanks

    @ totallyfundu and cooltechietvm

Hey..am really sorry for having wasted your time..

The net connection is up somehow. I didnt do anything. I turned on my router and it worked - "might have been the technical complaint that I made to the customer support a day earlier".. I really dont know the reason why it suddenly started working, even one of my friends in my locality had her connection up when mine was down(so the BSNL server problem cant be the reason)

This was the first time I have posted in any forum and I am happy that you could all come to help me. Thanks for that.
