Default Internet Sharing - 1 Desktop and 1 Laptop

    Hi all,

I have struggled with this piece for almost 4 hours without any success. Here is my problem.

I recently got a new connection from BSNL. I have two computers - 1 desktop and other a laptop. Both have Win XP SP2. I have a router cum modem given by BSNL which is WA3002G4. The router interface of this device is not at all user friendly. Now I need to dial in to get connected using the username and password. I am able to connect to Internet individually on both laptop and desktop. But my problem is, I am not able to connect to both at once. On the laptop too, I have to dial in to connect to the Internet. Same is with the desktop. But to get connected on both at the same time is my challenge. I have been unsuccessful. I have searched through the forums. But no one seems to give any comprehensive help on this particular router/modem's settings.

I connect wirelessly to the Internet using the router. But then I cannot connect using the desktop. I have run out of ideas. I did that sharing thing in network connection properties on the desktop (which is connected using RJ-45). That didn't help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Please take a look at WA3002-g1 ADSL MODEM (Type-II) MENU

In the webpage, click ADSL Modem Configuration for Multiuse.

Alternatively u can checkout http://mydataone.net/router/wa3002g4.html too

That should help u out. Do please post whether it was successful or not.

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your help. I got it done. The mistake I was committing was that I was creating an icon and am doing dial-up kind of thing. You don't have to all this. Just get into the router page and under Management option input the username and password. From the next time, you don't have to enter any username and password. No dial up icon. Even on the laptop, I didn't do any configuration. Just open IE and enter the website. Done in a jiffy.

If anybody has any questions on this router, please ask me. I would be glad to help.

    Thanks once again.

    geniuspro.

Congratulations. U have learned to configure the router in pppoe mode. In this mode the router authenticates your username and password. The other mode is the bridged mode in which u have to double click icon to get connected. The OS authenticates the username/password in this mode
