Thread: computer hangs after connecting to BSNL broadband?

If I start surfing, my system hangs within a minute or so after connecting to BSNL broadband.
I am using a D-link ADSL modem.
I am using AVG Anti-virus free which is auto updated.

Prior to taking this connection, I was using BSNL GPRS through mobile.

Please help me in this matter.

Instead of obtaining IP address automatically, manually assign an IP address to your lan card. This will eliminate the hanging up of the PC. The PC becomes sluggish as it requests for an IP from the modem.

Yes you can try the above procedure and if fail then please post the error code you are getting

also have a look at ur startup programs to find out if any unrecognised entry is there. That would indicate possible virus/trojan.

AVG Free is not absolutely foolproof. U also need a dedicated firewall that gives u specific control over which program has access to internet.
