Default U-torrent issues with Wi-Fi connection

Hey everyone,
I recently got a broadband connection. I have ITI type 2 modem provided by BSNL.

I am having a issue with the u-torrent. i use Wi-Fi on the laptop and wired connection on the pc.

In the laptop the IP shows as 192.168.1.3 where as in pc it is 192.168.1.2 when i enter ipconfig command.

i want to configure u-torrent on both of these. I have enabled the port forwarding by adding 192.168.1.2 in the DMZ host. u-torrent works properly
on the pc running xp (Wired connection). it shows the green mark. where as in the laptop running vista (Wi-Fi) it shows the exclamation mark. i even tried adding 192.168.1.3 in the DMZ host but still doesnt work in laptop.

How do i configure so that u-torrent works correctly with wi-fi connection ? also can i use u-torrent simultaneulsy on both of these ?

Please help me. waiting for reply..

Thanks,
tanveer

Is the laptop running some firewall software? If so, please disable it or forward the port in the firewall so that the torrent data is not blocked by the firewall. Also try disabling any firewall if present in the router.

Yes u can use utorrent in both the devices simultaneously. For that u need to configure the router to work in router/pppoe mode. The speed will be (un)equally shared in between the devices.

you can try to disable and re enable local connection in the alptop.mak sure that ipv4 info is set to auto for both ip and dns.

i dont think it is an easy way to run utorrent on both simultaneously.there is a tutorial somewhere in this site where u can learn how to do it..

[ps : if you have enabled wi-fi and not wlan, then make sure you apply wpa security immediately.]

DMZ option on home routers allows only one computer to be placed in that zone. Hence it will not be possible to enter both of them in the same zone.

If your router has "Virtual Server" option try that.

What I have at home is like this:

a) BSNL provided Type I modem - UT-300R2U (internal IP = 192.168.1.1) in PPPoE mode
b) Linksys WRT54G wireless router (internal IP = 192.168.2.1, IP provided by UT300R2U = 192.178.1.2). This router is configured in Automatic DHCP aka bridge mode.
c) DHCP = ON, on both routers
d) My desktop and laptop connect to WRT54G - both in wireless mode
e) I had added the IP address 192.168.1.2 (WRT54G's dynamic address) to NAT/DMZ of UT-300R2U
f) I can run uTorrent on both computers simultaneously and both have ports open. But I usually run uTorrent on my laptop only. Desktop makes too much fan noise which disturbs sleep at night.

I would suggest keeping one IP in DMZ zone and keeping the other one in Virtual server. Make sure the port details are configured correctly when Virtual Server option is being set. Also set TCP as well as UDP ports.
