Use http://download.softpedia.ro/dl/f32c.../Messenger.msi for direct downloading .. Be warned that its about 24MB in size.

    from Post 17:
    it gives me ERROR: 80048820
    Probable solution:
MSN Messenger Error Code - 80048820

When you try and launch MSN Messenger and try to logon, you get an error message 80048820. A wild guess, your system time / date needs adjusting.
    The Cause of Code 80048820

There are a variety of causes of this error:
    1) Incorrect Proxy Setting for Internet Explorer.
    2) softpub.dll may have become unregistered.
    3) Your system clock may be showing an incorrect time (or date!).
    4) Firewall problems.

The Solutions to MSN Error Code 80048820
Internet Explorer - Try removing Internet Explorer proxy server settings and go with the 'Automatically detect settings'.

    1) Launch Internet Explorer, click "Tools" and then click Internet Options. From the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections tab. Click LAN Setting. Un check the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) checkbox. Finally positively tick: 'Automatically detect settings'.
    2) Register softpub.dll.
Click Start (Button), and then click Run, type regsvr32 softpub.dll. Restart MSN Messenger.

    3) If necessary, logon as a local administrator, set the computer's clock to the correct date and time. (Check on the internet if possible.)

    4) Turn off the firewall temporarily. Check firewall settings such as Norton: "Block access to secure sites". If this cures the problem, make sure that Microsoft's MSN Messenger is allowed full access through your firewall.

    Labels: error code 80048820
Temporary relief ! try this. as given above.
    tried working fine.

U must be checking whether one port is opening up or not, right? Here use this Port Forwarding for the Dlink GLB-802C to forward the particular port.

The given link is for portforwarding in utorrent, but u must get a general idea of the changes to be done in router.

Your replies are general in nature ,
    not complete and lacks details.
    for various tweaks suggested.
Hope you succeed after doing PF.

Use something like Revo Uninstaller to uninstall MSN Messenger along with the registry entries and all the associated files. Normal uninstalling doesnt remove all the traces of the software from the PC. U need to use these specialized tools for complete removal of certain softwares.

U can try Your Uninstaller Pro too for doing them same.

Post the instructions for Port forwarding ,
    given in the manual
as text annexures and Jpg pictures.
    for @cool_techie_tvm's perusal.

    Did you try meebo ?

Only the PORT forward pages and instructions given in the manual. @Cool_techie_tvm does not have the manual.

    DID YOU TRY MEEBO ?
You have a habit of not reading other posts properly, and stuck with a fixed idea , that PF will make your MSN or
    Windows messenger access possible.

I have stopped searching for solutions.

In any technical problem, all solutions should be tried, and
results posted. Not only for your sake , but for others,
who access this thread at a later date via Google/Yahoo
    search engines.

i already mentioned this point on another thread. whats the point in moving on with the discussion if the suggested solutions have not been tried. i already suggested him on this thread to try meebo and 2 other similar services.

since u are able to connect through web-msn, are u sure its not a issue of ur firewall blocking the desktop messenger program?

    From Post 38.
i reinstalled a clean copy on XP last night, i havent installed any antivirus and no other applications
    just firefox and msn messenger
    Option 1:
    TRY i’m MAKING A DIFFERENCE

    Option 2:
Have you updated the OS to sp2 sp3 ?
    Internet Explorer/OE/MSN are all interlinked.
    Download IE8.
Confirm Outlook Express or Outlook works.
see Annexure. Try from Help menu also.
    Option 3 :
Reset the GLB802C to factory settings.
    Forget port forwarding/Ip filters etc.

    Try in "Dialer Mode "
Still unable to open and access
    Windows Messenger "No Go"

    Option 4 :Try another modem/router.
    You had said earlier,
MSN was working in BSNL BB connection.
    tried now ?

    Feedback.
    ( Assuming Modem/Router is the problem )
    Post Device /internet status page

    @supershane4141
    The irony is:
For past twenty one days, ( contest month) for my 210 posts
I did not get EVEN A SINGLE REP POINT
Or even find my name in top 50!
Just like our general elections ! Deposit lost !
Of course, makes no difference to me, as I am not
    in the contest race.
And I get PM's every other day for info and solutions !!!!!

At least you can click the middle "Scale"icon , ( see left)sometimes to other contest participants. It will
help someone to "pip" to top 15.
