Default Very Costly internet in india. Why??

Broadband in india is still costlier than underdeveloped nation like kosovo.I have got a friend in kosovo and i am surprised with his Internet packages. For speed up to 1 mbps with unlimited transfer he just pays 15 EURO(Around R.S.975)Were as here in India for 512 kbps unlimited transfer we pay R.S.1350.For R.S.1350 in kosovo they offer 2 mbps with unlimited transfer with a good connection stability. But i am surprised with these things that an underdeveloped an nation provides such a good tariff why cannot india a well developed country than kosova cannot offer such a things??

And large amount of that profit is probably being misused by them like most other govt. organization. Hope I'm wrong.

yes, india has been lagging behind most nations in broadband field but the rate of progress is very good. just remeber , those days are not too old when we used 56.6 k telephone line connections and paid more than waht we do these days for unlimited BB connections

9 years ago I used to pay Rs.16/min as airtime charges for a mobile call plus normal PSTN charges if calling a landline. Then the STD pulses during the day used to be 2 sec.s.
So a one minute STD Landline call from Mobile during the day used to cost about Rs.48/min.
Now I pay 50p for the same call.
Thats primarily because of larger volumes and competition .

5 years from now, expect a similar fate for Boradband too.

its because India is one of the most populated nation in the world ... so the infrastructure is not enough to satisfy the demands for bandwidth ,so costly ..... and also ISPs are eternally afraid of Indian Torrent maniacs so to discourage this they make it costly

Yes tariff/usage are really high. Specially BSNL usage charge 1MB 80 paisa/90 paisa that mean any one download 100MB then it will charge 80 or 90 RS by the BSNL it's so much and other ISP also high rate than BSNL.I think it will take few time in India to reduce bb/internet rate.

We also don't have proper eletricity for server to run and maintian infrastructure.
so lots of money is spend on arranging backup power

leave this topic, in India we wont get internet quality, speed and tariffs like other countries have, its not about internet speeds when u compare Indian infrastructure of roads water supply etc then u realize how far behind India is, if pigs can fly then this can happen!!!!

Its not impossible but it'll take time. India's case is very complicated, as mentioned earlier population is one of the major cause. I may sound too optimistic but I hope that BSNL gives better BB plans by April (NOT APRIL FOOL).

yes this is the reason but my thinking regarding bsnl bsnl is capable of doing every thing but our politi***** bsnl is having everything but why i dont know for example everything is ready in bsnl in case of mobile services but it launched its services after many operators i dont know why???

offtopic

but know it is ready to launch its new services in the year 2009 many things will happen in the field of communication and all of us will take benefit no. portability,wimax,3Gand etc
