Default Comminity Edited portal for Router setups

There are so many routers/modems are available in market. all can be used with bsnl broadband. every modem/router has a unique or different interface.
So, this makes things confusing for specially for new people. also, when they ask questions here, they are greeted with vague answers.

    I have a idea,
Why don't we start a Collaborative community edited portal, where every member can submit a Guide to misc tasks on his particular router model with complete screen shots. so we would a a complete database of User manuals, Guides and other such information on routers.

    These tasks can include:
    *Port forwarding
    *Connection Setup
    *Wireless Configuration etc.

For reference we can look at portforward.com or bsnl website

    Why community driven?
The reason is, collecting information about different routers isn't a one man job.

What are your views on this idea?
    Is this worth the effort?

One of the common queries among the new users of BSNL broadband is how to configure the router for pppoe mode or bridged mode. Port forwarding has also been an issue with many. So if a community driven portal, which explains the configuration process along with appropriate routers is realized it would be helpful for them. Since it is community driven anyone can join and edit/post configurations for their respective routers.

Mediawiki is a web based software application which was originally intended for wikipedia.

And Wiki is a web page which can be edited by anyone who can access it. The user can modify the contents according to his will. This is done using a simplified markup language.

Installed wiki and now experimenting with it.

    Main Page - Broadband-Guides

I bet, wiki form is more readable and easy to maintain then present .zip files found in Guides & Howtos forum.

    Default modem/routers program guide/s

    @gary4gar
    A good suggestion.
Please see annexure. ( my book marks page )
some folders have more than 20 or thirty entries/links.
1.Most BSNL supplied modem/s have setting instructions or user manuals..

    1a.For example
    mp.bsnl.co.in/bb/modems.htm ( add http://)
    has instructions for 15 modem/routers.

1b. For wa3002-g4 only Chennai BSNL has posted
in their web site page with screen shots. ( posted in this forum initially by another user. )

1c.Calcutta telephones is THE website as first choice.

2.I recently uploaded manual for Glb802C ( emailed to me by dlink)( Not available in their website. not checked as on date ). .

    3. Rarely used modems/and clones of popular modems
websites do not give QUM or user manuals.

In these cases I ask for Device status or sample modem page and select a similar modem router.

    4. Once a website link is given full details are available.

    5. Recently we had problem to get an user to change to GDMT, because modem screen shots were not readily
available in the web of the particular modem.

    6. Anyway thinking of implementing your idea in some way.
