What is the use of configuring a modem in PPPOE mode?
How does it help, it might be a lame question for some of you guys to answer, but i need to know..

i saw this thread already, I want to know what is the need to configure modem in PPPoe mode, what is default mode of my modem and how does this change help?

PPPoE mode is required when u are using a router and want to connect two or more pcs to the router. The router will authenticate your username and password when it is switched on.

The other mode is the bridged mode, the one in which u doubleclick an icon to get connected. In that mode your OS will authenticate the connection. Generally used with single pcs (one pc + one modem arrangement)
