U can find out the MTU of your connection by yourself. Please use Max MTU: How do I find mine? Tweaking FAQ - dslreports.com to find your MTU value and enter it in the router.

If it ain't broke, then don't try to fix it.

Meaning, If everything is working properly and without problem. Don't play with settings unnecessary.

MTU is maximum transmission unit that your interface can transfer. MTU of lan interface is 1518 bytest and MSS = 1412. but if you are using vista or xp then it uses PMTU.

my routers MTU settings are 1492.
can anyone check their Linksys MTU settings for 512kbps connection, and let me know, i want to know if this could be the MSN Messenger problem.

Do u know that your MTU value is dependent upon your connection. Your friend in another state...his MTU value wont work out for u.

I suggest you to keep the MTU on default only and not to mess around with it, if it is working fine on default then you really need not to change anything.

    Yours:
i want to know if this could be the MSN Messenger problem.
    suggestion:
The latest status is I changed MTU to 1454 and now Hotmail is opening.
    from a recent thread

    Your screenshot shows 1400.

Also why time zone is not adjusted ?
    may not make a difference.
    Try one by one. .

Also try toolbar for windows Live.

i havent tried this.. but a good way to find out the right MTU for your pc is by typing

    ping -l MTUvalue Google

at your command prompt..try with various values, the one which gives the lowest ping time is the best..

Isnt it ping -f -l 1472 Google. The 1472 value must be decreased until we get the "packet needs to be fragmented" error message. Then increase by 1 until we are 1 less away from getting the "packet need to be fragmented" message again. Adding 28 to the resulting value is the maxmtu.
