Smile BSNL's New USB Data Card

BSNL has launched new USB data card for interenet. It costs only Rs.225 per month and gives unlimited acces. Speed is quite good. But if somebody feel that the speed is low just type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted" without the " signs in the Command Prompt. Be sure to run the Command Prompt with Administrator right...The surfing and download speed will effectively increase..

Edited- font size decreased from 6 to normal.

Any ideas why? The network is already saturated? Or there are no takers for the same?

No this is not the Reason data cards are not having high speed they are having up to 144 Kbps but evdo is having more speed up to 2mbps and evdo is easily available where BB is not feasiable. for more speed people are diverted towards EVDO

The service here is huge hit.the exact reason for not known. but i am geuessing

*They don't have any equipment left(Data card)
    *They have reached max capacity

Also, officials are here in typical BSNL style are clueless on availability of new connections

initial charge to buy the equipment is Rs. 2800. It also has rental plan. If you have bsnl lanphone in home then you can rent this with a Rs. 1000 refundable deposit. In that case the rent is Rs. 100 per month, i.e you have yo pay Rs. 325 per month with rental plan,,,,

It depends on lot of users mainly Signal Quality,No of Users ACtive etc.

When i used this, i got around 400kbps to 700kpbs speed average which is very good as its unlimited.

Data card supports max of 144kbps

U are speaking of EVDO which promises 2.5mbps and gives 700kbps-1 mbps

Edit : Seems like Tejaswy beat me into it !!

Earlier i had written about this on my blog:
Everything About BSNL EvDO Data Card | Gaurish Sharma Live

    copying from there:
    What is CDMA 1x ?

CDMA 1x is the previous version or the older version of EVDO which has speed upto 144kbps. As EvDO is still in Nascent stage of deployment very few areas have Evdo BTS (base transmitting stations), rest are still CDMA 1x. If BTS near you is not Evdo enabled then you will get CDMA 1x speeds of upto144kbps.

also a nice site for information:
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited - BSNL Data Card - High Speed Internet - Anywhere - Home Page
