i havent ever updated my windows, but i have patched the WGA files, so could this be the problem? if i update windows, will it work?

Yes u should be able to update your OS. U can directly update it from the windows update server. The link posted by essbebe features single exe files of all the updates. It is cumbersome to first download these exes and run them one by one. All these is eliminated with the help of Windows Update, because the process is fully automated.

i understood that... but wat i meant to ask is, is msn messenger not signing in because my windows is not updated?

Well unless u do the necessary experiment of updating the OS and trying the MSN Messenger again, we are all clueless.
