    Cool Who is Blocking the speed ???

    I want to know who is controlling the speed in BSNL broadband :

    My modem or BSNL server ?

    The speed is set on the BSNL side. In the case of cable internet, the speed is set on the modem.

    I have cable inetrnet it means my modem is regulating the speed not server .
    right ?

    Yes. Every time u switch on the modem, it requests for a certain configuration file from the server. Upon receiving the configuration file, which contains your speed details, the connection is established. Hence i said that the speed details are stored in the modem.

    Yes! your speed is controlled by your ISP on their side. you can not change the speed by yourself

    there are the servers with prxoies already established at the root level....this is the actually whats happening in bsnl bb..

    @ cool_techie

    can cable internet speeds be uncapped? wont write much on this topic here ... but i think it can be done ... i heard something like this before ...

    Yes it can be. U need a mechanism to feed the router with modified speed details. And the router will work on the speed set in the config file.
