Wink BSNL broadband tarrif - unreasonable

Bsnl broad band - 250 home plan provides free usage of 1GB for which a subscriber has to pay Rs 250 plus taxes, while the tarrif for the next 1GB usage beyond free usage limit comes to Rs 916/- (1024 MB X0.90 Paise per 1 MB). Is it not utterly unreasonable ? 1 GB free limit is very much unreasonable. Now a days every web pages are full of Graphics, vdo advt. etc, which involves much more data transfer than the web pages with plain text. Of late Bsnl provides concession for Govt employees to encourage internet usage. Shuld we not impress upon the authorities to re examine this unreasonable arrangements and convience the authorities to either enhance the free limit to atleast 1.5 GB or cut down the tarrif of additional usage from 0.90 paise to 0.60 paise per 1 MB ?

Interesting observation. BSNL will be upgrading the data limits in the years to come. Also there are talks of introducing night time free usage for Home 250 plan too. So its better we wait for them with patience.

You can stretch your D/L limit to 2 GB if you
block pop ups/advts/video/flash images/avatars/signatures in forums etc. ( can enable them , as and when you feel like ) of some sites you often visit.

Don't use mail client Web based. ( Yahoo Mail (india)
Hotmail/gmail/ etc )

Use Outlook /Outlook Express etc.
Or try eprompter from ePrompter Free eMail Notification Software

I have same Home 250 plan.
Use FireFox browser with add ons
Adblock plus, Flash Block NoScript.
Or Opera Browser . ( shows cached images etc option )
Also IETAB and IElite to switch to Internet Explorer.

Para two:
Down load Tweakdun 2.2 and see the bytes downloaded
for each web site you visit. ( with without pics etc )
Or Shaplus1.3. Watch data above Taskbar in a window
Attached Images
File Type: jpg tweak meter 2.jpg (38.9 KB, 15 views)

Yeap as far as Govt Initiatives or Organisations are concerned, Patience is Virtue .

As for plans, there are alternative plans and like you said 1GB download has become something very miniscule these days, the might just increase the limit but so will the cost.

The requirement and usage differs from person to person. For a normal user who also has access at office and just uses the home service to do a little browsing, to check mails, chat using text IMs, does not use much video or youtube, 1 GB would be quite adequate provided that few tools like ad-block and flash-block are used. But if video streaming/ video chat is mainly required then the unlimited plans would be much better.
If u r on 250 plan u also pay normal phone rental of Rs.180 so total Rs.430 for 1 GB + 50 calls. (Rs.380 if u r a govt/PSU employee)
For the medium users the better option is 500C+ where for Rs.600 (Rs.480 if Govt./PSU employee) u get 2.5 GB plus 50 calls with unlimited broadband use between 2 AM to 8 AM.
so effectively by paying only Rs.170 (Rs.100 if govt/PSU employee) more u get 1.5 GB more plus 2-8 AM night unlimited.

We have patience, and the authorities take this advantages. We have patience waiting for better services, enhancement of speed and un-interrupted services and now........... to what extent ?

If they can upgrade from 256kbps to 2mbps within days, then 2mbps to 8mbps is nothing new, especially when the newer BSNL DSLAMs are clocked at 8mbps or above !!

But BSNL was having server load problems right. It was clearly stated in tariff page that due to server load the 512 KBPS bonus offer on UL750 was canceled.

Kolkata Circle was foolish enough to implement the offer without doing their homework. Hence they retracted the offer on such short notice. Such decisions have to be taken by personnel who are into the scene.

BSNL is fairly capable to providing 8mbps in the current scenario. Major backbones are being upgraded every week in every state. But like gaurish mentioned imagine having 8mbps @ 1 GB data cap !!! That is BSNL

Please give details of the modem you use.
How do you connect ?
Dialer Mode or "PPPoE always on "mode?
Change to Dialer mode and check.

As it is, can you connect to Internet and surf ?
seems so, since you have posted a message here !

ALL ports are open AND rarely ISPs block a specific PORT.
BSNL does not block any Port Including VOIP services.

Para two :
Copy/Paste following data here ( NO edit)
Start RUN type cmd Ok
New Window
Type ipconfig /all
