Default BSNL - Wi Fi - Enabling security

    Hi All,

I have BSNL wi fi connection at my house and use that both for my laptop and desktop using wireless.

    Now,

    1. My wireless network was easily accesible to others when the modem is switched on since it was not enabled with any security.

    2. I went to 192.168.1.1. >> Wirelss >> Security >> Selected my SSID >>Network Authentication as 'WPA2-PSK'>>Entered long pre shared key>>WPA Group Rekey Interval=0>>WPA Encryption = TKIP>>WEP Encryption Disabled.

    3. After this saved the settings and logged out

    4. I did all this in my laptop and immediately laptop when refreshed for wirelss networks, asked for network key and i entered and confirmed and it got connected immediately.

    5. PROBLEM - Booted my desktop, found my wireless connection and tried to connect, it says it can't be connected.

Can anyone help me if i did anything wrong above? i suspect i should have choosen WPA-PSK in place of WPA2-PSK

According to WA3002-g1 (Type-II) ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION WPA-PSK is to be chosen rather than WPA2-PSK

    Hi All,

Yup. As said it was problem with WPA2. I changed that to WPA-PSK in place of WPA2-PSK. All other settings are default as it was. And its working... now i can access my secured broadband from multiple computers. Thanks all who have replied.

And someone writing here saying SP2 to be installed to support WPA. But my question was not that! whether its WPA or WPA2? Anyway its done... Thanks again!

Irrespective of the OS, the problem was due to the encryption being employed..
