    possible.

    Whatever internet connection you use,
the audio quality depends on the audio codec selected.
Running both Video and Voice depends on speed/bandwidth of connection.
    Run in Yahoo Messenger
    Voice test and report.
Can you check the present codec used/
Half duplex or full duplex ?

Its also proportional to the bandwidth. I have a 384 Kbps Wimax connection and I chat frequently with my parents who have Airtel 256 Kbps connection. Chat=Video+Audio
I have observed that there are frequent disconnects from my parents side, I keep getting the message that there might be a connectivity issue causing this...
The same does not happen to me...

    Test in Yahoo Messenger.
    Actions
    Call setup
    Test Microphone and speakers.
( after every change below )

    Codecs:

    Start Control Panel
    Sound and audio Devices.
    Hardware
    audio codecs

    Properties
    Audio compression codecs
    Say select MicrosoftGSM6.10 audio codec
    Use this audio codec
Change Priority. say to 1 ( if it was say 4 )
    Any improvement?

I have forgotten : half duplex and full duplex.
    settings.
As told earlier either use VOICE or Video.

What is the maximum speed supported by the NIC? Isnt it 144kbps? Yes it might be due to low signal strength too. How much bars is it displaying? And can u post the signal strength in dB ?

Yahoo messenger has integrated video/audio codecs which we cannot tamper with. The sluggishness explained is due to an unstable net connection.

the average bandwidth on CDMA 1x is around 80-90 kbps. At this speed, video calls will surely break up. even audio would break up. the only VOIP service that reasonably works on CDMA 1x is Skype. But even there u may experience breaks.

    @chakochi
Yahoo reportedly using Windows XP default codec.
because Yahoo chat uses the DSP Truespeech Codec, which by default is included in all Windows installations.
If you use Vista see this web site.
