    BSNL DNS service is not at all reliable, but it is faster than international DNS services. By faster i mean the resolution is a bit faster because the server is geographically closer to us. But it tends to loose its stability sometimes due to congestion.

    Right bsnl dns is the best when it is up and running..
    But when congestion occurs like yesterday, they fail miserably..
    Then other dns are the only resort..

    MaxMTU value option looks good. Let me try this.

    By the way, which are Open DNS IPs????

    @toneeraj
    You have stated that for last two days you cannot access
    google.com etc.
    1. TRY a System Restore to an earlier date.
    Any changes made in the System ?

    2.Always mention modem model and make in your posts
    Some have menu settings for MTU and MSS.

    3.Download TCP/IP optimizer from
    speedguide.net and follow recommendations for MTU/MSS etc.

    I had similar problems. When I start my PC initially no site works, only torrent work after few mins some sites open and then after good 30 mins I get full speed and access to all sites.
    May be problem with BSNL server. All ports are not accessible.
