WiMAX is a long range wireless internet solution providing up to 50 kilometers of range from a fixed station and up to 15 kilometers of range from a mobile station. This is compared with up to 100m of range from normal Wi-Fi. Wi-Max works in a similar way to Wi-Fi but with less interference and more effective use of bandwidth. This allows for faster data transfers over greater distances.
