Please checkout Results and comments - matousec.com for the latest firewall ratings..

Online Armor Personal Firewall seems to be the leading one.

Norton Internet Security is good but you have to configure it not to block your bittorrent client. Similarly, Kaspersky is also great.

I've also been using commodo with utorrent without any problems

I'm using that you are in bridge mode now.

Zone Alarm Basic Firewall and Avast Home Edition (P2P Shield enabled) is the best combination of security software.

dont worry too much about the BEST firewall cause you would confuse yourself at the end.. every firewall has its pros and cons.. different websites rank different firewalls as the best..so its best to just choose a reputed firewall like zonealarm ,comodo or any other and stick to it..

I don't use any separate firewall...I just use the firewall in my anti virus (KIS)..
& I use VUZE....didn't face any issues till now....the downloads are very smooth...

yeah KIS is really fine.....if u have slow system u may like to try ESET NOD smart security (antivirus+firewall)
& i will say instead of using any special firewall try to stick to one that come with anti virus pack....sometimes individual firewalls has complex settings

i would also recommend not to use any software firewall if you are a heavy downloader specially torrents ... windows firewall is enough ...

though u can try zone alarm firewall ... but a few settings needs to be tweaked for optimal results ..

Windows Firewall doesnt block outbound connections from the PC. Imagine a rogue software present inside the PC. If it tries to connect to the parent server, windows firewall will be ineffective. But other software solutions will block such attempts..

thanks... but i am not saying that software firewalls are crap ... they are not of much use to normal home users ... as pointed out by CTT in the above post s/w firewalls have their own significance ..

Sygate was the best. But sadly Norton bought it. It can still be found with NIS.

    Yes.
I still have sygate running smoothly on my home & office desktop (the original version). And its definitely the best. Unfortunately it does not work on vista systems.
