Disable DHCP only if u manually assigned the IP address. Else enable it.

    Enter the username without @bsnl.in
    Enter the password
    Enter 208.67.222.222 in primary DNS
    Enter 208.67.220.220 in secondary DNS.

Thats it. Save it and reboot. Verify the router is able to connect with BSNL network.

How to make from poppe mode to bridge mode? I will be needing cable right? As right now .. M using wifi for my lappy.. N modem in poppe mode.. But it seems bridge mode is better.. And also.. I hears from many.. In bridge mode u dont have to port forward in utorrent or any other client.. Correct me of m wrong..

No need for right cabling to change back to bridge mode. Just reset the modem and u are good to go.

Yes it is true that there is no need for port-forwarding in bridged mode. But u may require the same when u are using a software firewall + bridged mode.

Thnx for the prompt reply. All I wanted to do by setting the modem in PPPOE mode was to automate 2-8 happy hours download. But I think even with help of an macro i can schedule and since I am using vista and the trick given in Broadband How to doesn't works. I need to tickle around with this technique and se if it works. 2 queries though :
    1. Unable to find a task I scheduled in task scheduler(vista)
    2. I got my installation done on 16th feb of this month. How will I be charged? will I get only 15 days of this month or they count in some other manner.

Yaar it is much easier to automate your downloads in bridged mode. If u are using XP, u can automate the whole process using RASDIAL.

If needed i can post it.

But for vista also it will be solved .. Let me know more exact details.. I m using vista. Can help u out..i prefer bridge mode for gettinng shcedule downloads...

Cool techie.. Hey suppose i use my modem in bridge mode .. Schedule downloads.. All done. But still i will have problem to reboot modem right? Like tht i have to do it manually.. As in case of wifi.. What u say...

    @Cooltechie
The real problem is I am using vista. But still if it is much easier using RASDIAL then I might consider dual booting. And always a tutorial regarding RASDIAL will not help me but many others so go ahead.
    @Mr.Tooth Fairy
I have read the discussion that u had with just4kix in the broadband how to section.
U never got a solution with the AHK script. So I am just trying out some other trick like macro reading key and mouse clicks and schedule the macro to run at specific times.Comment
Also any answers to these queries

Well I have found a way to install telnet on vista. But still when the script is executed all I get is the cmd telnet window. Now I am finding a freeware macro recorder for vista.
And please friends you don't have any answers to those questions

Why going for such escapades while u can simply install telnet? Kindly checkout Vista: Installing the Telnet Client | Microsoft Vista | Tech-Recipes

Well cooltechie, like I said I have installed telnet so I don't want to know how to install telnet. If u remember in the discussion that u had with toothFairy in broadband how to section, the problem was not with telnet but the problem was with automation. At the scheduled time the the script ran, but only to open telnet window without executing any command like reboot.
@toothfairy: Why i am insisting on a macro reader is that, a macro will simply follow the steps as if I was operating the computer. Just scheduling the macro will do the job without my presence. Comment

I am not exactly using windows vista now, so i am a bit unsure of the telnet affair. But i had managed to reboot the router well with the procedure given in the broadband how to section. I had to do certain modifications like instead of telnet 192.168.1.1 being commonly employed in XP, it should be o telnet 192.168.1.1 in vista.

So if u can open up the telnet window like i mentioned, then the rest of the procedure is pretty straight forward. U also need to know the command for rebooting your router..

U can use to know more about the commands being employed for telnet in Vista in http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...02ab91033.mspx

And yes u are free to follow the macro method. Please do keep us posted about the procedure employed, maybe the mods can make that as a sticky !!

This is getting frustrating. What I am saying is that I have installed telnet in vista and I am able to reboot the router through it. The problem arises during automation.
@toothfairy: Note taken of your suggestion. But still unable to find task named "reboot" which I assigned it myself.
One more question. How do I check if G.dmt is enabled. And what is my snr value. Should I consider Local or Remote as my SNR margin

    1. Unable to find a task I scheduled in task scheduler(vista)

See current tasks by selecting a grouping in the tree view at the left of the screen: Task Scheduler (Local) > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft *

    2. I got my installation done on 16th feb of this month. How will I be charged? will I get only 15 days of this month or they count in some other manner.

U can use only 15 days worth data. The billing will be done on pro-rate basis.

    *Taken from Vista Task Scheduler*-*Vista

    Sorry, didnt notice it earlier.

Checkout the DSL Standard tab, U are in ADSL2+. Browse through the tabs available, the option to change the standard to G.DMT should be available in the router web interface.

Checkout local SNR Margin. That your your modem's SNR Margin with respect to the exchange.

When did u get the connection? Was it on 15th? Then the usage for the rest of the month from this 15th will be calculated.

They bill u according to the date the connection was created. When was the connection created? It should be listed in the usage portal. It is listed for the older subscribers like me on our usage portals.

In http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...tml#post120619 (Bridge to PPPOE mode) u have mentioned that u are not even able to execute the reboot command.

It is only in the quoted post that u are explaining that u are indeed successful in rebooting the router.

Please be precise when u explain the problem. If u had explained before hand itself that u are able to reboot the router while telnetting i would not have repeatedly posted the same thing again and again. And u could have saved up your frustration

well nowi remembered.. exactly.. see what i did.. is i tried all things.. like used macro, used scheduler and other stufff.. than i also did some thing .. like i made the script n converted into exe file ( i dont know the software kixxi told me abt it ) all things worked half. but not in co ordination... the last n final thing.. like all things was ok.. but what happened is when i made exe file from script n executed.. like the procedure starts.. but when like telnet client opens ... n than login n password comes.. tht time it was not continuing.. i mean it was not inputting the password n login.. otherwise my tht project was perfect.. if it would have worked than full autoimation in bridge mode for vista i would have done..

another thing.. is like if u study carefully.. u see in the script.. there is some kind of waiting time.. i dint understand tht much.. so like i cannot see if there is any flaws in it.. hope u got the complete picture...:bored::bored:

what is going on buddy.. ok tell me the task which u scheduled it.. did it worked ?? it may happen if u dint saved or something.. just double check .. do one thing,, make one more schedule task.. jsut simple.. like getting a msg on a screen or something. and save it .. remember the name exactly.. what u saved the task as... and than see if u find it in as i said in library... or tht tree thing also may work.. n if u find tht task tht means.. forget tht old task.. make it again.. u might not have saved it... or a bug....

If you want the solution for Vista + PPPoE, then look here indiabroadband.net/broadband-how/8550-ultimate-night-usage-manager-3.html#post35462

I also have readed somewhere that “Imran’s Broadband Helper Utility” dont depend upon Vista's Telnet.

Any ideas how the utility reboots the connection in pppoe mode? I am talking about Imran's Broadband Helper.
