Smile “BEWARE OF FOX AND BSNL” New BB users

    Friends,
You are taken a connection BSNL LAND LINE & BROAD BAND; you never ever forget your first bill statement from BSNL. I would appreciate the BSNL selling techniques in new offer bonanza! I was surprised they mention the offer leaflets shows new landline connection installation charge Rs.250/- waived off.

When I have receive my first bill from BSNL. I got shocked because they added NPC- installation charges Rs.250/-. Then, I asked BSNL accounts they said, generally we are collecting the NPC- installation charges is Rs.500/-, for this offer we have charged only Rs.250/-, and Rs.250/- is waived off.

Another new experience in my life with BSNL which is broadband connection. I saw my bill statements its mentioned additional usage is 612MB that means my plan was “startup250” as per plan my free usage is 1GB.I was checked in my portal site it shows entire month total usage is 1064810Kb(1.024GB) or excess is Just 20Mb. But, the BSNL charged excess usage charge Rs.550/- of my broadband for 612Mb.

Then, I asked BSNL billing department, they says, your bb activation started 19 Jan 09, so, we are calculated the duration of the month is only 13 days. We are charged bb rental only 13 days of that month. (But, the land line rental is fully charged Rs.250/-).As per the 13 days eligible usage is (=1024/30*13) 443Mb only. If you think free usage is up to 1GB is wrong for the 13 days duration. Therefore, you are used the bb additionally (=1064-443) 612Mb. Additional bb usage charge is 0.90/Mb as per that they were charged Rs.550/-.

Above mention these details, nobody explain to customer at the time of registration.

I have loosed Rs.550/- for just 13 days.

This my experience shares with you all, if anybody taken new broadband connection “BEWARE WITH BSNL”.

    Regards,
    Mohan.

First. You have not activated your IBF account. Please click on the link in the mail you received from the forum admin in your mailbox. Failure to do so will cause all your posts go into moderation.

Now to your queries and understanding:

    a) When you take a new connection with broadband, you are liable to pay installation charges on two accounts - one for landline and other for broadband. Each charge, I believe, is Rs. 250/-. You got a waiver off the BB installation charge. So there is no anamoly there.

    b) BSNL's BB usage charges, fees, etc. are always prorated unless you opt for an unlimited plan. So if you opted for Home 250 plan and plan got activated on 19th of the month, you will be charged from 19 till 30 or 31 (as the case may be). The BB fee of Rs. 250/- will not be charged in full but prorated for the 13 days. Likewise, the usage limit is also prorated.

    c) But if you opt of unlimited plan (UL750 or UL1350), there is no prorated charge. You are charged in full for the entire month, regardless of the start date and you can download as much as you like.

Yes. It is a pity that they do not explain these things when you take the connection. It is only after getting the bill, that people realize things. Same confusion is on night time free usage also (2 AM to 8 AM). Please read the many articles and guides posted in the Broadband How to section.

It is circle specific and exchange specific. BSNL has instructed their employees to impart all these knowledge while installing the connection, but some refuse to take heed of it. IN Trivandrum, atleast under my exchange (Central Exchange) i have seen JTOs explaining all these to the newer subscribers. I have known of such activities in Calcutta too.

    In My Opnion,

Bsnl should publish this as "Welcome Kit" l in which all such things are given.
then they give it all broadband subcribers at time taking a new connection.

This welcome can also we given in the modem box. this way subcribers would be always informed

In here such pamphlets are distributed by BSNL on some exchange circles along with new connections outlining the various policies, how to check usage, CC numbers etc.

I would suggest u get in touch with the respect accounts officer in the pattom office. He may explain the billing to u. If u want the CC number of BSNL (not the usual one, but that of NIB) i can provide it in here.

Once u reach the exchange, ask for accounts officer on the ground floor. If anyone asks u what is the problem just answer them as billing error. U will be directed to the upper floors where accounts officers are situated. There is a security guard, who will again enquire your purpose of visit on this floor and he will ask u to note it down on the register file present with him. He will also direct u to the desired accounts officer. Speak in the matter amiably with him.

    All the best for tomorrow.
