    Default Idiotic Rs.91,052 Bill from BSNL, Urgent !!!

    Today I received a bill from BSNL broadband kolkata, for my telephone and broadband usage, the bill is of an absurd amount of 91,052.

    The timeperiod of the bill being 31/12/08 -- 31/01/09

    calls made during that period according to bill - 64 ( 175 free calls in Home500c)
    Net amount -- 91052
    call charge -- 0
    Service tax -- 9722
    BB fixed monthly charge -- JAN09 -- 500
    Edu cess 9.2.09 -- 194.44
    Secondary & higher edu cess -- 97.22
    BB usage charge -- 80517
    -------------------------------------------------
    Net amount -- 91052



    my usage detail for the given time is downloaded and enclosed from Service portal ( data.bsnl.in ) with this post, in MSexcel format.
    that will show that my usage (excluding ) night time usage is 1575.5 MB.
    Clearly they have included my night free usage in that bill and made it such a mess. What do i do now folks ?????????

    Its a blessing that i got to see the bill first. My mom is a high BP ( high mental tension suffering ) patient . She would have suffered a stroke and died if she saw it first.

    Help me here !!!

    Go and meet the Accounts Officer and file a written application requesting record of BB usage and details of calculation.
    If they refuse, File an application requesting the above details along with a DD/Postal Order of Rs. 10 under the Right to Information Act

    dont get paranoid just take the screenshot of your usage details of the jan month approach bsnl account officer ,he will ask u to get a revised bill from the bsnl billing dept and it has the correct billing

    i was charged for night ul and i did the same thing and i got the corrected bill

    if still they didnt revise just show them the screenshot of your portal

    What is happening Leo with CT ? I have faced also same problem although in my bill they did make mistake of usage of 250 MB extra usage but your bill is quite amazing immediately contact with
    DE internal of zonal office or at first at BullyGunge exchange DE internal
    otherwise go to the Hare street, Calcutta telephones head quarter with xerox of previous 3-4 paid bill (it is necessary to submit otherwise they will disconnect your line for non-payment bill within due date)
    ,don't panic if they did mistake it will be solve by them the have to revised the bill obviously another guy of calcutta telephones are facing same problem if needed we will contact with BSNL authority unitedly. (i have already contact with them)

    thanks 4 ur replies pals. will do that immediately on monday. i have seen many wrong billings by bsnl myself, but 91000 ??????????????????? its impossible to believe.

    i simply want to kill them when i think of what would have happened if the bill was handed to my mom, she doesnt understand such things and would have thought that it was my fault and would have suffered a stroke. thats y i cant even say anything to her. its disgusting.

    and y screenshots ?? i have downloaded the complete webpage and also excel datasheet for my january usage (attached it in my post). that is from their portal . it more than proves my point. they should pay for such mistakes.

    Leo dont worry and dont panic. I do not know these proceedings about BSNL. Do as most of the members suggest here. I am sure the bill will be revised.

    What i really want to say is - after getting your revised bill and when the problem is solved - Do take this argument(which i quoted) to the higher officials. Its really serious. They should pay for such blunders.

    i am amazed at the frequency of such wrong billings...high time they shud be taken to task. wtf?

    and leo i am really thankful, n happy for u that it dint reach ur mom... i understand how traumatic it can be with those not used to seeing such stuff.

    Don't worry about these. It happens. I faced such type of problem, but not with my Broadband but with BSNL post paid Mobile. In my case The problem was: the person who generally preapres the bill was in leave and another person prepared the same. And all my calls were counted as roaming bill by this new person. But it was corrected by BSNL. So proceed to your nearest BSNL authority.

    a friend of mine too got a 70k bill.. he went with a printout of his usage and spoke to the CC.. it was sorted out.. these things happen!!

    I wonder how such things happen quite frequently with BSNL... Very incompetent!

    Most of the latest billing issues are pertaining to the newer subscribers on NIB 2 network..

    I have also heard about 27k 28k bills. but frankly, 91k ??????? how can anyone make a 600/- bill into a 91k blunder ???? i still cant imagine.. and just my bad luck, its sunday, i have to wait till 2morrow to get in touch with those morons. what a tense situation 4 me. Yuck !!! if only i could make them pay for such a mistake !!!

    This is a billing error definitely.

    The case is definitely about night usage not being considered as free usage. The billing system is different from the portal. It is quite possible that the billing system has marked your account as not eligible for night usage, e.g., the plan may be marked as Home 250, out there.

    You should make a complaint in duplicate and take a received stamp on the duplicate copy. Do so immediately. Take leave from work if required.

    I m not much familiar with such proceedings, so please help me out here. Do u want me to make a copy of my complaint and get it "received" stamped by them when i submit the original ? exactly whom to address the letter to ?

    address DE internal at first exchange sometimes local exchange deny to take such application and refer it to head office(8,Hare street) or zonal office.
    1. 1st go local exchange with application address DE internal with portal id & password need to mention.
    2. Xerox copy of disputed bill & previous few paid bill(for to avoid disconnection)
    3. Submit print out of first page from BSNL portal site usage record.

    Hmmm, so i m goin to ballygunge exchange tomorrow with those things. Did u say that i should mention my portal id and password in the letter ?
    i m askin because these guys have a tendency of sending u back and forth for such small matters, and it takes days even to find the person u should see.

    wtf man.. thts quiet huge amount of bill... even i was shocked looking at the amount.. now u have to do all procedure correctly n accurately.. do not forget any details n documents. get the excel file, also snap shots... and also login id n password. later u need not to give before unless they ask.. but better deal with them as soon as possible.. kixxi told right.. take leave from job if necessary... as the bill amount is huge.. n better not get frustrated or panic.. if u relax n solve it negotiating with your BRAIN ur matter will be solved without hassel... go n talk to them as soon as possible.. gosh.. BSNL in such matters.. just spoiling its own reputation.. huh.. best of luck leo... let us know if anything other..

    Do not mention your portal id and password in the complain letter (They even do not ask for that). Just you have to mention your telephone number to which the broadband connection is provisioned with address. As I see personally that they only put your telephone number to their system and the details of your connection with the total amount of money you have paid till date against this telephone number etc etc will appear in their machine.

    I found something today, look at the following tables........

    U can see that in the first pic ( calcutta telephones billing portal ) somehow all my night time usage has been shifted to daytime free limit category for january last. As if I only used the net during daytime.

    But in the second pic (usage check portal [data.bsnl.in] ) the usage for january shows exactly as it should be. This one is correct, obviously.


    How can such a thing happen ??????

    Ohhh man this is scary leo. Plzzz post if every thing is sorted. Once I got a bill of Rs 6000 and I nearly got a stroke myself. But 91K is something buddy.They suerly are moron's if they can make such a mistake.
