    Default What does CRC,HEC ( ATM layer ) & FEC mean ??

    Hi to all,
My modem is Smart MT882. These days I see that during the evenings my modem somehow succeeds in establishing its connection with nearly the full speed and sometimes it is upto 2mbps. This is relatively a very new discovery and was not observed earlier. I am not aware of the reason why this happens so. My mode is ADSL2+
and I would like to know what these numbers related to
    CRC
    HEC ( ATM layer )
    FEC

Well I m getting a lot for these especially CRC after the modem is on for a very long duration. Can somebody please help me know what all this means... ??

    Thank you.

Thank you cableguy for the reply.

Exactly whats the cause behind the speed fluctuation especially during 6pm to 8pm, I get very high speeds, i.e. the full 2mbps or like this 2047kbps (downstream ) and 255kbps ( upstream ). After that I never experience such speeds and one noteworthy feature being during that period I get high HEC and CRC numbers....

That is a common problem everyone who is on H500 (and i a suppose you are on that plan too) that in the night time usually in the happy hours(2-8) everyone faces a drastic fall in the speed, so you cant really do anyhting unless ..................... you bribe someone and get urself some priority
