    Default ADSL2+ or G.DMT

I am really in a state of frustration now. For the entire last day, my net didn't respond. In G.DMT mode, SNR margin was taking wild swings between 7 and -10. But I never bothered to change it to ADSL2+. Now in the morning I changed my mode to ADSL2+ and the margin shot up to 35 to 40. Now I see all of them suggesting to stay in G.DMT mode but it is not working for me. Another thing I have just now changed to G.DMT mode and still I am getting good margin upto 40 dB. I have no idea what is the cause and which mode is better.
I have problems in my line which I can feel every time I pickup the receiver(I get a lot of distortion, even when the modem is off). I have placed a complaint to checkout my line. But friends does the SNR margin changes in such high ranges for all of you'll or should it be somewhat stable. Please helpout

If your SNR is on the border line (7 to 8), then changing to G.DMT or back to ADSL2+ may help. The default should be ADSL2+.

If switching does not help then there is a severe problem with the line and you will have to contact BSNL (local exchange, not the tech support) to rectify line problems - ask them to lay down new line and maybe change the port.

Well for not my SNR margin it between 38-40. But many at times it goes well below the borderline of 7-8. I have called the CC and they said that there will be someone in the next 48hrs. But why changing to a different mode helps?

    I said may help. .

Personally, I don't believe so. I had similar issues and only when the line and port was changed, my SNR and connection stability improved. In fact, it has not been down since then.

I understood line but what is "port". Do you mean the wall socket from where my telephone's line out comes. Anyways I hope that once my line is checked the problems will be solved. Still have a look at the screenshot

ok.. looking at your screenshots i think its your line!!i had this similar issue ( including disturbance in telephone) my internal wiring was perfect ( telephones after splitter etc ) . so i called the lineman and he then used a different port.. by port i mean , from the junction box ( usually at the end of roads ) to the telephone pole ( outside my house ) , the underground wires were screwed.. so they have multiple underground cables which go from the junction box to each telephone pole. so he switched my connection to an alternative cable ( he didnt fix the damaged cable or anything, its underground , its tough).. so once he made the switch , it was fine!!I dont know if you've understood what i said just now , cause i dont think i explained it well..
basically you call your lineman, he hopefully should identify your problem

Well you did a good job explaining prashbabu. OK I got it that the telephone Box(don't know what should I call) nearby the road needs to be open and my connection willl be put in another port. OK thanks a lot. Anyways now that the line is cleared how often do you'll face disconnection, if any.

Friends the BSNL guys were here and they blamed my internal wiring for the fault. They checked the line till the door of my house and they cannot hear any noise. But anyways I just cleaned the telephone jack and everything and I am not facing any disconnections now.
