Thread: Help Please... I'm Afraid! Should I Stop Download/Upload torrents?

Hello Sir,
I've BSNL Broadband connection with 256 KB/s Unlimited Plan!

I've read Some problems, articles of some users who have been caught by their ISP's. So..... It made me think that.... should I download/upload torrents to some trustable sites like piratebay or some other?

File sharing is illigal or what?
Please tell me about this!

I'm a heavy torrent user from last year.... Is their any risk?
Please help me....

well this is a very sensitive topic to discuss about, i dont think its allowed here!!But yes downloading pirated movies,music etc is ILLEGAL!!

Yes, I agree with superprash2003. downloading pirated movies,music and all types of copyrighted materials are ILLEGAL!!. But File sharing is not illegal and also Using Bit torrent client and downloading torrent is not illegal. Only the content of the torrent should not be copyrighted like Fedora core Installation DVD which is a free distribution content.

as of now downloading from torrent sites is not so much threat.........! thats all i can say at this moment

well its good to be on safe side,downloading copyrighted stuff from torrent is illegal

most of the internet piracy is done using p2p

i am not sure abt the piracy rules in india,

There is a difference. You can freely distribute content that is owned by you by p2p or other means.

Back to topic. While it is illegal to download movies, software, copyrighted content, etc., many people do it nevertheless simply because it is available. I usually buy genuine stuff. Itsmemad was at my home yesterday. I showed him a sample of a movie on big screen and he understood why I buy genuine DVDs.
