| Platinum Member | Changing of DNS may or may not work. If it works, then "Congratulations". If it does not, there is nothing you can do about it. In my case, when I switched to OpenDNS, the speedtest results showed low results. Switching back to BSNL DNS increased the speed. But these are individual cases.

This is the vStreet server where I used to get 40 - 60 ping for about 3-4 months and now I am getting 350 (I disabled my previous H500 and got a new one thats why 59.xx changed to 117.xx ) Ping statistics for 202.63.171.122: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 342 ms, Maximum = 345ms, Average = 343ms |

| Platinum Member | I am not sure but he probably wants to compare and see if the high ping persists all the time. If yes, the problem lies with his connection, if not then there is a fair chance that the v-street server is experiencing temporary problems, which is quite common for game servers. This is just my thought, and I may be wrong. |

| Platinum Member | @essbebe, I thought you were asking him to post ping results to v-street server again. So I was confused. But if I am not much mistaken, it does not matter where the server is located. What matters is the number of hops. Member amrawtanshx was earlier on 59.x.x.x subnet and his ping times were less because the 59.x.x.x gateway server must have been making less hops to the destination server. Now that Ip has changed to 117.x.x.x, the gateway server is probably going to many other places (extra hops) before reaching the destination. Changing to OpenDNS may help, and then again, it may not. Rep Power: 0 | Yes U are correct. BTW its only me facing this high ping as my gateway changed to 117.xx . The speeds are perfect that a H500 should give but ping to Indian game servers are pathetic .. I had 40 - 60 pings before as I mentioned. So all I am asking is that should I try a new DNS or phone BSNL people to solve this issue ... (What do I need to tell them) |

| Platinum Member | You can trying switching to OpenDNS. BTW, BSNL says that it is not legal to switch DNS and if you do, they may not entertain your requests. Anyway, try switching to OpenDNS and see if that helps. Even if you call BSNL, they may not be able to help much. The DNS and Gateway are set by NIB center at Bangalore. You can explain the problem - you never know - you may get a solution. |

| Platinum Member | I have a small doubt here, i think opendns will only solve his browsing related problems. But since in multiplayer gaming the game tries to connect directly to the game server ( a certain port is preselected for data transfer ), OpenDNS seems to have nothing to do here. I ran tracert for the given exatt/v-street server and the connection was slowed down near the end at some NewDelhi based NIB server. The new route chosen for his new ip is making all the difference, I dont see any way out of it by switching DNS. As i am not 100% sure I shall wait for amrawtanshx to find himself by doing so. |
