I am a DSL User, how can I enable my PPPoE?
- Most DSL service providers do not require this since their DSL modems already have this capability built-in where the hand-off on the LAN side is straight Ethernet. In these cases, you will simply need to the connect the WAN port of your Gizmo to the LAN side of the modem and then connect your computer to the LAN side of the GIzmo if you do not have a router already.
- In the case that you do not have one of these newer devices from your service provider and your DSL provider requires a "User Name & Password" authentication when when connecting to the Internet from your PC, there is a good chance that the DSL modem that you have requires an external device to establish the PPPoE connection to the service provider. You normally would do this through an application on your computer,
but in this particular scenario, you will need to configure the Gizmo/ATA with the same username and password settings so that it can establish the connection instead of your computer. You will then connect your computer to the LAN port of the Gizmo and automatically connect to the Internet without having to use the login application on the computer. For specific instructions on how to login to your particular GIzmo type and configure the username and password information, please take a look a Downloads page on this support site.
