Default Bridging Two BNSL Broad Band Connections

    Hi,

We (Me and a friend, living in apartments next to each) have 2 BSNL broad band connections that need to be bridged.

    1. 512 KBPS unlimited. (Mine)
    2. 2 MBPS limited. (His)

I need a cost-effective solution to bridge the two connections.

    My requirements are simple.

In all we have over 7 devices which connect to the internet (PCs, Laptop's, Gaming Consoles, etc).

I host all my AV downloads on a central server. This server need to be connected to the unlimited connection for 24/7 for downloads.

The rest of devices should able to access the AV server and also access the net through the Limited connection.

Occasionally, I may need to switch the Gaming Console to the unlimited connection because I would want to use the unlimited connection for downloading DLC content.

I figured using the same IP Segment should keep everything on the same network. (i.e. 192.168.X.X).

I could set one Router as 192.168.1.1 and the other as 192.168.1.2, assign static IP's to all the connected devices, except the laptops, and then if all the devices are on the same network, I should be able to switch between the 2 connections by just changing the default gateway.

Each router would be WIFI enabled for devices like laptops and mobile phones. The rest of the devices are all hard wired.

There is a CAT-5 cable running between the 2 apartments.

I just need to figure out how to bridge them. Do I need a special switch/router in between.

Ok. maybe my requirements are not that simple.

I request all to excuse my use of network terminology. I just have basic know how with respect to networking. I have used terms that I heard the network admins in office use. I may be completely wrong with the usage of some of them.

    - Matt.

We are using BSNL provided WIFI enabled modem/routers.

    Currently the setup is.

House 1: 512 KBPS unlimited line on WIFI modem/router.
ALL PC's, Gaming consoles connect via CAT5

House 2: 2 MBPS limited line on WIFI modem/router.
Gaming console, Home Theater connect via CAT5.

These 2 are distinct networks. Laptop in both houses connect via WIFI. So I can pick up any Access Point. No Issues there.

Home/AV Server resides in House 1
    Printer resides in House 2

House 1 needs to be able to access the printer in House 2 and House 2 needs to be able to access the Home Server in House 1.

How do I bridge the 2? Do I need to buy additional hardware like maybe a switch or something.
