Red face To browse two laptops at the same time with type 2 modem

Hi Friends,

We have two laptops in our room and a single broadband connection. We are using type 2 modem with wireless. Te issue is that we are not able to connect both the laptops to internet at the same time.
1) We tried by connecting one system to LAN and another to wireless. But only lan got connected.
2) then we first connected to wireless and then to LAN in the other system, here Wireless got connected and LAN did not connect.

Is there any network giants, who can help me through this. I need to use both the laptops at the same time.

Thanks in advance.
