    Default PPPoE server session FAILS

    Hello,
From past few days I am facing this issue of connecting to BSNL broad band in Bangalore. My connection randomly works well and immediately if I restart my router I am unable to connect. When I run the test, when it fails to connect I see this result on UT-300R2U,

    Testing Ethernet connection PASS
    Testing ADSL Connection PASS
Testing ADSL line for sync PASS

    Testing Circuit for Network Connection

Testing Ethernet connection to ATM PASS
Testing ATM OAM segment ping PASS
Testing ATM OAM end to end ping PASS
    Testing PPPoE server connectivity PASS
    Testing PPPoE server session FAILS
    Rest everything below fails too

When this happens I have to call up the local exchange and he resets my User account then I am able to connect again till the time I restart my router.
It becomes a pain calling them again and you know how helpful BSNL customer care is  . There are frequent power cuts here and I have to restart router now and then.

I am not sure whether this is a problem with router or with the server side issue. Today morning again it was out for a while and suddenly started working now without a reset...

What does it mean when PPPoE server connectivity passes but PPPoE server session fails.. Please advice as i having a very bad time with BSNL....

    Thanks a lot in advance...

yes i agree with you ... the same is happening with me too for just a few days as i re-started the router a few times ... i still dont know what is causing this to happen.... my power supply is ok and when ever i restart the net will be disconnected before re-starting so there is no issue of BSNL server not able to know if i was disconnected before... hmmm waiting for it to happen again........
guyz do you people have this problem...?

If you are using a Dialer change to "Always On " mode.
    From modem settings
    Statistics ADSL
report SNR ATTn Line speed MOD mode selected
    Change to GDMT.

    @ankitha_kh
    many also have "same" problem.
No proper information given to help out !
upload even a small attactment to any site

Please try the connection on another modem. BSNL is known to give away modems for connection/line testing purposes. If the connection fails (same error) on that replacement modem too, then its a DSLAM problem.

It's probably at the DSLAM/server end. When you disconnect, the device at the other end probably fails to close the circuit/session and clean up. When you try to reconnect, you modem detects that your broadband circuit is still in use and then fails. Stale sessions are known to cause such issues.

And until your provider gets serious about it you could try turning your modem completely off, unplug all the cables from the back - wait about 3-5 minutes and plug the cables back in and see if you are able to reconnect. If not, the only resort would be to call in to kill the stale session.

Thanks a lot for the help... I tried a lot on this by disconnecting and waiting for the PPPOE stale session to close.. It does close after some time but not always.. I do need some restarts on the modem and PC to get back the connection.. Now I end up everyday 0.5 to 1 hr from past week trying to get back my connection after a modem restart.. This is really frustrating and painful.. Dont know how to convey about this issue to BSNL staff....Is there any way i could forcefully close connection and kill that session myself !!! please advice...
