    Question Substitute for Portforwarding

    Hello everyone
I'm having BSNL broadband 500c plan with UT300R2U modem.I'm a regular user of Utorrent and so to boost my download speed i tried portforwarding.
I changed my modem/router settings to bridge type connection instead of using the DMZ way.But after a couple of weeks or so i couldn't connect to the internet. Was getting error message as "Remote computer failed to respond".
Fortunately i had backed up my original settings and now updated to its default type (always On PPPOE).

But now my download speed in torrent files is Just 15 - 20 Kbytes/sec.(For good health torrents)
I'm getting the red exclamation mark at the bottom saying a router/firewall is blocking the connection. I added exception to XP firewall, so it must be the Router thats blocking the connection.

I just want to know if there is any other way other than the above methods of portforwarding to improve my download speed

    Thanks in advance

XP limits the maximum half open connections to 8...
if u can increase it, u can connect to many clients at the same time and it will give you more speed for dwnload...
    u hav xp+sp2 rite?

I think bridge mode is best, because you don't have to worry about port forwarding & DMZ etc. & you can control your usage by just dialing, In PPPoE mode you can't say surely after switching off PC it wont use your internet.

yep...if u have a good firewall (like comodo) you can change to bridge mode.. u dont have to manually portforward and also scheduling connection for night UL downloads will become very easy..

If not all torrents are downloading at same time follow the steps (I use uTorrent so I stated steps for it only):
Option> Preference> Queuing > Max no. of active torrents & Max no. of active downloads Increase these values to whatever you like ( I kept it at 10), now you will be able to download many torrents at same time.

For just a test disable firewall & then try uTorrent, Keep your modem in bridge mode, try different firewall.
    Another setting in uTorrent:
    Option> Preference> Advanced> net.max_halfopen> Set this value to something like 80-100 (I kept it at 85).
