    hi! bro,
the same happens with me(though my modem type is different i.e. ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII and Operating system is VISTA) as well specailly while doing direct downloads via rapidshare, megaupload etc .................. though looking at the modem the lights are in proper form i.e. the internet light blinking at times and the DSL,Ethernet and power continuously ON ................
i have checked my SNR, attenuation levels as well but they seem fine and i also don't suffer from slow speeds but the download gets interepted in between then i have to restart the download as there is no resume option available in rapidshare etc. ..........

sry bro but don't have any idea about this .............. actaully i had asked this very point in this forum then i was guided to check my SNR,attenuation values etc. of my modem to determine that i was not suffering from signal weakness as well as i was guided to check the phone for any distortion etc. then one also needs to check the way he has made the connection i mean where the splitter is attached then from the splitter one line goes to the modem and the other to the telephone ........... you could also go about checking for corrosion at places in your telephone line ..............

The possible solution thats working for me is to make it "always on" connection by chaning the modem's wan settings, and changing it from bridged to PPPoE but it's insecure to do so.

After making this change, the disconnections are definitely gone.

But i am also looking for a better solution to this annoying disconnection and modem hanging problem, as the always on connection does not seem safe to me. By the way i have Type 2 DNA-A211-l modem.

If someone do find a solution here, please do share.

disconnections will continue on bsnl broadband unless u r very close to ur local exchange from where ur telephone line is comming.
bsnl ppl dont use quality wiring in the city nd their wires gives problem wen slight wind starts blowing...in summers and thunderstorms, this problem increases greatly...!!!

even a person of managarial post stays in my neighbourhood n he also suffers this problem.
nw u can imagine, wat the quality circuit bsnl has.....
u should use the conn in PPPOE mode as its safe and tells whether ur pc is taking data or not ( internet lite blinks during data transfer in PPPOE mode nd not in BRIDGE/dial up mode).
    so enjoy wat u have....
