as you are only stating that you need only 1 GB then go for 250 plan.... its the cheapest and will give you 1 GB DL/UL limit

If you need 1GB usage and particularly you need thsi for rural area then there is no need to spend 250/m. A special plan is lunched by BSNL, espacially for rural area. you have to pay 150/m, you will get 1GB free and moreover in HOME 250, per additional MB will be charged as 90 paisa where as in Rural USOF 150 plan, per additional Mb will be charged as 40 paisa. Check Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

    Hi
I have been using the Rural 150 plan at my farmhouse in Punjab. The speed for this connection is 512kbps to 2 mbps. When i tested the speed at speedtest.net I found the speed as 2.85 for dnload. This amagingly fast. I even get download speed abt 260-300 kbps in Free Download Manager. But only problem is that If u want any other package like 500/ Unlimited the speed with be reduced to 256Kbps. Best of Luck to all using this plan. Hope BSNL will soon co.me up with a Unlimted Plan for Rural customer at this Blazing speed

I agree. Go for a rural plan. But i think there is some limit. ie, they give only to limited no. of users. So make a quick decision.

A better idea will be to check usage details at regular intervals. Don't depend on BSNL website. You can use a broadband meter. Click here to download.

PS: The data will be approximate. Please counter check with BSNL site at regular intervals.

well my friend, gadha plan or not, more than 50% of the BSNL BB users are having either 500C (1.5gb + 175 calls for Rs.500) or 500C+ (2.5gb + 50 calls for Rs.600)

The plan selection is very important. In my locality 75% connections are UL750. Only 5 - Connections are 500 , 500c or 500c+.( Specially for the home connection section) As per a barbel information from my local exchange.

the choice of plan depends on the intended use.
UL750 has its advantages and its disadvantages. the advantage is that its UL. the disadvantage is 256 kbps. so video chats etc. do not work well. H1000 (5gb free, 384 kbps~2 mbps bandwidth) or UL1350 (512 kbps) would be better option for those whose main requirement is two-way high quality video chats and other file transfers.
On the other hand most people mainly use the home connection for general surfing, text/voice chats, E-Mails etc. with occational use of video. And most of them use it after returning from office. So 1.5 GB or 2.5 GB is fairly adequate for them.
Further, use of Firefox with add-ons like flash-block also greatly reduce the data usage.
