    Arrow Pls Recommend Wi-Fi modem

First of all hello, this is my first post.
But more to come for sure.

I am using BSNL's Dataone Home 500 C+ plan since 1yr. Quite satisfied with it.

Now i plan to buy a laptop and use wifi.

I think type II modem will suit my needs.
BSNL will supply ZTE modem as they say. I am using type I zte modem with no probs but i somehow have reservations against ZTE(chinese comp.) and also BSNL bcos their service is poor.

So i am thinking about purchasing a wifi modem from market.

So i am looking for recommendations in this regard.

Pls mention company name and approx price.
    Thanks for help

At least one user has some kind words to say about BSNL.

2.Can you ask/exchange for the wifi model on rent ?
    If earlier modem already purchased,
    and in working condition
BSNL MAY/can consider a swap for purchase of WIFi model.

    3. Reference:

I have deleted the link from this post and essbebe please read the thread carefully before posting and i request you to put some efforts in replying back, don't post link everywhere.

    recommended:
D-Link DSL-2640B ADSL2/2+ Modem/Wireless Router 4-Port Switch includes SPI and NAT firewalls plus WEP, WPA, and WPA2 encryption.

NetGear DG834G Wireless ADSL Firewall Router (54 Mbps) includes SPI and NAT firewalls, WEP, WPA, WPA2, VPN, intrusion logging and reporting, denial-service (DoS) protection.

Do a google search for: BUffalo WIFI routers.
    Increased Range and costs more.

Ensure All are 3 -in 1
    ADSL modem+ router + wifi

    Hi springy

    Welcome to IndiaBroadband Forum

If you want to purchase a new router then it's better to go for Netgear routers
Netgear DG834G: it's modem+router which works good with minimum problems and not very expensive too, you can get it for INR 3000 or 3200.

Speedtouch 585 v6: same modem+router with very friendly user interface, can get it for about INR 3200

D-Link DSL2640R : again one more modem+router with same price range.

what difference did these modems have with ZTE ZXDSL 531 ?

ZTE ZXDSL 531 costs 2000 from BSNL while these costs more than 3000.

    1. seems as @moderator you follow your own whims and fancies.
2.There is nothing in Forum Rules restricting posting of links ( except offensive/vulgar/commercial/pornographic links)
3."I never read anything "! ( good advice after 1600 posts here! )
4.and "put some efforts " not needed
to give links/info from different sources in the web!
5.Your advice "Don't post links everywhere" is unwarranted.
6.If you were so much interested in deleting the link, why did you not think of replacing http as hxxp .

of course as @moderator you know better !
Presume you are reading my PM's too! Any advice ?

Earlier @just4Kix sent PM's to me and I have tried
    to follow his suggestions.
Since you have posted in the forum , instead of as a PM
I am posting this in the thread itself.

    5. May be if you think so.
    6. Please check point number 2 again.

I am not getting your PM's, may be you are sending your PM's to someone else.

Default BSNL usb modem EC325 (nic)- SLOWEST SPEED

    Hi All!

I have purchased BSNL usb modem EC325 (nic) in bangalore. I have got unlimited post paid plan. Bsnl promised me that I will get a maximum speed up 144 kbs but in reality my download speed is arround 2kbps or so. But surprisingly my signal strength is good (4 bars).

I am using Vista ultimate, pentium dual core in my Lenovo laptop. Browser - is Avant / Mozilla.

Please tell me how to increase the speed either by any additional softwares, drivers or changing internet settings. Also kindly say whether I can use this modem outside bangalore or karnata or not.

    - THANKS

    1. All can be tried , but unfortunately, I cannot give thelinks here (@moderator DOES NOT LIKE IT ) . you can see he has deleted many links I had given earlier in this thread.

2.Type key word in Search engines ,and you may get the links yourself.

3.Or go to bottom of this page and click "Archive"
(A box with color background )
and try to find a thread on the subject.

    @springhy
what difference did these modems have with ZTE ZXDSL 531 ?

Some of them have addition menu options,
which majority of users do not understand ( include me also ) or use. Can be better designed with latest
    electronics.
If BSNL modem /router is taken on rent, replacement
is also easier. I understand for modem purchased, BSNL gives guarantee for 6 months or one year.
    Check up with CC.

Even if you have a Ferrari sports car, you have to crawl at 30Kmph in our cities roads. In villages
the car will get bumpy. Same way the router you have selected may be the BEST but ultimately speed depends on the ISP!
You can read many complaints , by users having different models of routers in this forum.

I recently bought Netgear DG834G ADSL wifi modem-cum-router for Rs. 3,000/- from Lamington Road. It has got wifi and 4 lan ports and comes with 1 year warranty. It's working great with my BSNL broadband connection Home 500C plan.

Other ADSL wifi modem-cum-routers available in the market are:

Pronet (made by Kunhar Peripherals) - Rs. 2,650/- (comes with wifi and 4 lan ports)

Dlink 2640T - Rs. 3,500/- (comes with wifi and 4 lan ports)

Linksys WAG200G - Rs. 4,390/- (comes with wifi and 4 lan ports)
