Thread: what's one gonna do with my password?!

Hi,
We all are aware of the auto usage checker plug-in for Firefox; but many don't use it (including myself) because we gotta give our bsnl bb password to the plug-in to operate (and that's obvious) But now i think its safe.. anyway's what is the creator of the plug-in gonna do with password, even if he records it with himself?? what are ur opinions? can anyone possibly misuse ur bsnl password??

i just added the datafox plugin and gave it my password..
i had to give my PORTAL id n pass (not bb pass obviously)
so wht do u ppl think? how can it be misused??

1) It would be better if you could link to the add-on that you are mentioning, because there are quite a number of add-ons for the purpose in the Firefox Add-ons site. Of-course most of the add-ons are checked before being approved for public distribution. But, nothing is completely trustable.

2) Luckily, others won't be able to use your portal id and password. But, they can use it to change your BSNL Mail password, and use it the way they want. And many crazy ones just change your Broadband login password to make you unable to use internet. But, these are not problems that occur so often and that do not have any solutions.

I don't understand what u mean!!! He just developed a software just for anybody who wish to check the usage. As per my understanding it is a great job done as per the open source wold where everything is free and can be modified by anybody with certain conditions. Mainly the modification done should comply with the GPL. Note that after creating the plugin he is not doing anything about that. You may or may not use that. It is your own will. And my understand nobody is misusing it so far. The portal id/password will be in yr local file system even the creater of the software cannot get the same unless he decided to develop the same with such bad intention. If u trust u can use the same otherwise just leave it for others using it to justify.

after installing i just said hats-off to the creator!
the thread was just to get an insight into what potential does
that simple portal id and password have..

That's a real man.:thumbup1:

the best part about addons (& open source software) is that you can open the file and see it source (or ask people to do so). So if ever an addon is popular, u can be reasonably sure that its good
