    Default Laptop wireless connection problem

    Hi Friends,

I am using BSNL 750 UL plan. BSNL has provided me WA3002G4 modem, on which I was using one desktop till now. I have done auto dial setting on pppoe mode (whatever it is) after going many helpful web content. Now I want to run a laptop (through wireless connection) parallel to desktop.

I set obtain ip address automatically setting on laptop. It got connected to network & shows data packets sent and receipt details. But not even a single website is opening. Another important thing is that on command prompt it is able to ping 192.168.1.1.

I have tried a lot of solutions as given on net, excepting entering a security key in the modem, which due to some reasons, I don't want to enter for the coming week atleast. Any help on this will be highly appreciated

    thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,

Hmmm so what all have you tried so far ?? have you tried to do settings manually and see whether it helps (instead of choosing automatic in TCP/IP) ?? If not please try !

Also have installed any antivirus softwares ? or have set the windows firewall (since you've not mentioned which OS you have I cannot comment much on this) to allow the connection ???

Please do let us what all (atleast the basics if not all) have you done till now so that we can try and identify whats the issue !!

Alternatively if you have still not tried the BSNL way of connecting, then check below and see whether it helps !

    @soundsgreat
Did you check the links given by me ?
I think ,Chennai telephones web site is also
guiding BSNL way ! for the EXACT
    modem/router.

The titles given for the links ( By forum), may be misleading you.

yeh done manual settings also, it also shows connected in that case with data packets exchanges. but not open any website.

I am using original windows xp with genuine norton 2008. with automatic assign of ip it got connected to another bsnl connection with same modem.

Let me telly the configuration done by me with links given above. As per my current understanding, i have the setting the same way it is given in links.

the connection is at my office, will post the details tomorrow.

    thanks friends for your replies.

    Hi,

Essbebe no hard feelings please ! we both posted almost at the same time ! hence the confusion ! When I started to reply, your post was not there ! otherwise wouldn't have posted !

Xcrazyguy, please do post whats the scene to narrow down on the problem ! I hope you have properly configured the Norton ! also if you have enabled both windows and norton firewall, please disable one (I'd say better disable Windows) !

Could you please elaborate what exactly you mean by this ??

    Regards.
