Most of the times BSNL techies are struggling hard to understand the actual fault. They should think about outsourcing their Broadband Customer care section to IBF

Using BSNL Broadband since Mar 2006.

    Plan: Home UL900

Regarding the hardware, that will be a history... probably my electronics luck is too filthy... anyway,

1st > Only BSNL provided Type 1 modem.

2nd > Within a week a fault was found and they changed the modem to Huawei Starlite SmartAX MT882. But before they changed the modem (which took 1 and half month) I had already purchased D-Link GLB 502T modem. Was using it as bridge mode.

3rd > Then I got one switch from one of my friend. He came and configured the GLB in PPPoE mode and configured my home LAN using that switch.

4th > A year before, all the components expired due to thunderstorm (sadly my entire system was blasted). Bought another one of same D-Link (forgot about the fact that BSNL has given me a modem!)

5th > 2 months later got a wireless router (WRT54G) from LinkSYS. So the combo was GLB + WRT54G.

6th > 3-4 weeks b4, severe problem in my system, in the form of frequent disconnections. Thought that the problem was in the line. But they showed me the problem was in my GLB (by the way, GLB has lots of issues, later I came to know. Hence, I discourage everyone to buy that piece of crap, and not to talk about their customer support, which is horrible).

    7th > Combo of smartAX & WRT54G.

8th > Some unknown problem.... line okay, modem okay (can work without the router), router okay (can work with any other modem, I tested in my colleague's house), but the combination was not okay!!!! Finally using SmartAX in bridge mode! No Wireless LAN. Planning to go for a modem-cum-wifi router... GOD knows what next

Please try to mention your modem - model and make.

There are many users who go through this thread. When we mention our details, they will be able to get the popular plans and modems. This gives them an option to switch to a better one if possible.

Try speedtest.net and a download from Microsoft and post the speed. I think you mentioned UL 750. Please start a new thread to get better attention. No matter what we do we cannot achieve any more than 32 KBps or 256 Kbps in UL 750. I myself use UL 750.

    connection- 250 Home, start - Feb 2008, modem - Siemens C2110
P.S. Don't use this modem. Already zonked out and no warranty from BSNL.
It's best not to buy a modem from BSNL.
