Arrow How to Share Dataone connection between 2 lappies

    Hi All,

    Question 1:
If i have a BSNL Dataone connection, how can i share that (wired)connection between 2 laptops(I am not choosing wifi).
Should i have to request any special modems that contains multiple Ethernet Ports or I must purchase a Hub.

    Question 2:
When i have a dataone connection at two locations(2 states), Will it be possible to use the Login credentials of one location from the other location and get connected ?

    Thanks,
    Harish

    Hi
    Welcome to IndiaBroadband Forum

Answer 1. You can use wired router for connection sharing, you can buy one from market otherwise if you want you can get one from BSNL too.

Answer 2. No you can not use login credentials from other locations

If i have a BSNL Dataone connection
    see this link.
various modems/routers are listed by Bsnl.

    BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU

    2. Suggested Type II or IV. ( rent is same Rs 80/PM )
A different model ( not listed ) can be issued by BSNL.

Type I modem having USB LAN port can be used,
    but not preferred.

    From Long range view,
an ADSLmodem+ with 4 LAN ports
and if needed also with WIFI
( Lowest cost Rs 1600/= from BSNL ) is
    suggested.

You should consider wifi.. its i guess around 500 bucks more , but its worth it , especially in the long run..also especially since both your machines are laptops..

If you want to connect simultaneously, there should not be problem you can use any modem and enable Internet sharing on the lappy connected to the modem. And have a cross cable to connect between the lappies.
