    Default Vonage problem

    Hi,

    I have newly taken the BSNL Broadband connection, and the internet is working fine, but i want to use this internet connection with Vonage, this is used to make and recieved to calls from US,

    BSNL BROADBAND MODEM : DNA-A211-I
    Vonage Model no : VTA-VR , powered by D-Link

    i have connected the ethernet cable from BSNL modem to VOnage, and i have connected the vonage with a phone.

    immediately i am getting a voice message from the phone as : The vonage device cannot contact the vonage network.

    i don't have any clue how to solve this problem, pls help me.

    Default Vonage VOIP

    1.Do you have a Vonage telephone number
    ( U.S like 508 xxx xxxx ?)
    2. Down load user manual for your unit.
    ftp://ftp.dlink.com/VoIP/VTA-VR/QIG/VTA-VR_QIG_100.zip

    3. Confirm You can connect to Computer in Lan mode as well as wireless mode.
    Try "Always On" connection.
    Enable DHCP in modem.

    4. For reference : similar modem/wif router. settings.

    5. Vonage IP address 192.168.15.1

    i am not sure about the Vonage telephone Number. i will contact my cousine and i will update you, in the mean time i will do the rest of things, if i require any help i will post the query again.

    1.start run type cmd
    in new screen
    type ping Vonage - VoIP Internet Phone Service for Home, Business and International Calling: Vonage - A Better Way to Phone for Less


    2.to access vonage .VDV21-VD
    ( no idea about your unit)

    3.It was set in U.S with U.S number. and supplied
    by Vonage.

    4..working fine without any trouble for past 9 months.
    Never had reason to access the settings pages.
    Usually switching off and switching on the unit
    establishes connection
    Unit has small screen to show error messages.
    and instructions to rectify the fault.

    which is a great advantage.

    6.VOIP connection is simple.
    In my case neither BSNL or Airtel has blocked VOIP.

    7.I have enabled email notification for this thread.
    ( Go Advanced and see at the bottom "Additional options")

    2 usual reasons why vonage doesnt work on a network
    1)modem is not in pppe mode
    2)DHCP is disabled..

    Good suggestions. ( may be a simple problem )
    Unable to see ipconfig for this voip unit
    like in LAN or Wireless Lan connection.

    his vonage mostly isnt getting an ip..

    The modem in pppoe mode

    and DHCP enabled in LAN settings.

    I'm originally from USA. From my personal experience vonage will cost you a lot..in the short run as well as over time.
    I'm an ex Vonage customer...no more.
    I brought "majickjack" to India and use it to call US and Canada from Ludhiana and Chandigarh, Punjab.
    Paid US$76.00 for 2 years. Google majickjack for more.
    I have used it since August 2008, in USA and now in India. I'm happy with this device, no more monthly bill.

    i have a friend who uses majickjack . According to him , its a very bad service.. Sound quality is horrible. Does not connect at all sometimes..takes up all your bandwidth.. also they have bad service..
