    Hi,

I have 5 PC connected via iball switch ob LAN. Now i want my BSNL Broadband connection (Yet to come) to be shared on the LAN & all 5 PC should be able to access internet simultaneously.

any basic router would do.. even a 1 port router (rs 1200) will do , since you have a switch.. if you want wifi , then you need a wifi router..All you need to do is set your modem in PPPoE mode..

Yes, superprash2003 is very right. Only you have to specify the iip of the router as the gateway in all the PCs.

well if im correct then u wont be able to use the net at the same time from diff nodes, untill n unless ur net is a MU type. for SU tupe connection u have to go for client -server architecture.

hehe well actually as per ur pic, BB line is inserted directly into the switch/hub. & from that u r distributing it to different nodes. so if u try to login say from 2 of the comps in that network using same id/pass @ the same time then u need a multi - user type acc, otherwise with single user type acc u cant do this

on PPPoE mode, the user ID and Password are set at the modem/router level. so log-in is done by the modem/router not by any of the systems. the network cable of the modem/router connected to the switch/hub would be enough. all machines attached to the switch would be able to access the net. However, the IP addresses for each of the PCs need to be configured manually in series.

DHCP can be enabled in the modem so that ip need not be configured manually in each pc

Do you have a STATIC IP address allotted by BSNL?
What is the tariff plan you use ?

    Pronet adsl modem

    1. START RUN type cmd type ipconfig /all
    Report the data here.

    2.
    Run this program
What is my IP address? IP Address Tracer, Internet Speed Test, DNS Tools
It will show the IP allotted to you.
if it varies it is Dynamic IP. ( after each start up)
Mention the tariff plan you got.

Your IP address is 192.168.1.100 ( allotted by DHCP ?)
    Your gateway is 192.168.1.1 (*modem)
    change entry in modem page.

For using connection in more than 1 computer, use an ehternet switch between PCs and modem/router (set in PPPoE mode)

Set up IP of individual PCs in the series 192.168.1.11, 192.168.1.12 ....... and so on with DNS, Gateway, Subnet as above

PS. I do not think the alternate DNS is correct.
