    Hi,

BSNL has changed their plan change policy.

    What they say

When you apply for a plan change, it will take effect only from the succeeding month.

    What will happen

May be you applied on 10th of March and normally expect to get the plan changed from April 1st.By this statement, BSNL only means that your plan will not be changed in March. They give you no guarantee that the plan change will effect from 1st.I have experienced it personally. Please check the screen shot for details.

Please think of some kind of personal confirmation.

I applied in Feb, expected to be changed on Mar 1st, instead they changed it on 5th. I talked to the Senior Divisional Engineer (SDE). He told me that not even your application date counts. It is when they feel comfortable.

They consider administrative department to work in Pakistan or something that they have no connection with it when we give the application there. For us both are BSNL but for them it is not. They charged me extra for the usage till 5th even without considering I changed to unlimited plan.

Please try as you say. As someone had in his signature, rely on Miracle. It happens sometimes.

And unfortunately, they will not inform you about these hidden traps. So I thought of sharing the info so that at least others are saved from unexpected payment.
this is basic stuff buddy, all of us know this, but the new subscribers dont,

for newbies : BSNL DOES ALL BILLING AS PER DAY BASIS , SO CALCULATE BEFORE U SPEND UR BANDWIDTH

    Post plan change

You should write in the application that My plan should change on 1st of next month or on the date you want.If they do not do this, take the case with authorities, and beware my plan was changed exactly at 12.00 PM Night.this is important if you r changing from UL plan to limited plan sudden change at 12 P.M.will add to your bill,if you r keeping your computer on in the night.

Once we go through this, we will be able to know. But when we are trying for the first time, we believe that plan will change from 1st. And it can happen too. But the reverse is also possible (my case).

    Default An update

    My new bill

Rs. 2701.00 sounds to be polite one

But call charges are only Rs. 214.

So Rs. 2487 for Internet charges for March and I use UL 750 just to avoid billing issues.

Why this much? modem charges, charged again + Rs. 750 advance for Plan change + Rent for March.

Rs. 750 advance for Plan change new info isn't it.

How I came to know? I made a call to BSNL accounts section. At first he asked my no. which I gave. He assured me to call after a few minutes (need time to check). A happy man waited for 2 and a half hours.

    No calls. No info.

My previous experience made me call him again. At first he refused to pick up the phone. Since I am going to suffer, I tried again and again and again.

He picked the phone and asked as rude as he can What do you want ?:31:

I explained the story again, he was kind enough to tell me that the bill is well in order and when we change to a higher plan one month charge is charged as advance, which will be returned when we surrender the connection. or move to a lower plan.

    From someone I know

I had faced the same issue in December 2008 when I had changed from Home 500 to Unlimited 750. This is what happens :

    (1) 1st Dec 2008 : I apply for a plan change from Home 500 to Unlimited 750,
    (2) 12th Dec 2008 : Portal shows a log which mentions that Unlimited 750 has been "provisioned".
    (3) 12th Dec 2008 : My speeds get reduced from 2 Mbps to 256 kbps. This makes me sure that my plan has been changed.
    (4) 13th Dec 2008 to 31st Dec 2008 : I surf and download to my heart's content thinking that I am now on a Unlimited plan.
    (5) 15th Jan 2009 : I receive the bill for Dec 2008 with an extra usage charge of Rs.224
    (6) 16th Jan 2009 : I visit the AOTR. He tells me that : "your plan change as far as billing is concerned will happen only from the first of the next month". In my case from 1st Jan 09. I told him about the portal showing a plan change from 12th Dec 08. He says that was a "technical change" and that the "billing" change happens from now,i.e. from 1st Jan 09.

So bottomline : Never trust the CC or the portal EVEN IF IT SHOWS A PLAN CHANGE. Always call up the AOTR or the DE Internal (Divisional Engineer) to confirm the plan change.

BSNL like giving surprises. Let me list a few when you apply for a plan change.

    1. For plan change, you need to apply in the previous month.

    2. It does not mean that plan change will happen on 1st of next month.

    3. When you change to a higher plan, you should pay one month's rent as advance.

    4. Double, triple confirm the plan change before you start using it. Do not believe BSNL customer care or portal. Both may lie.

    5. If your plan is not changed from first of a particular month, then you have to pay for both plans for the days you used them.

    In detail,

    1. In April, you would like to change your plan and you start using unlimited as you expect to change your plan. This is not possible as the plan change cannot take effect unless you apply in March. Any plan change should wait for 1st of next month to pass.

    2. You applied for plan change in April, you expect to get the new plan on May 1st. Beware! it may not happen. You give your application in administrative section. They need to pass it to the technical section. Technical section approves it and pass it to Bangalore NIB where the plan change takes effect.

We consider all these department as BSNL. But for them, these are like Pakistan, China and Srilanka. Your plan change will not be effective from the date of your application or from first of next month. The effective date is when the technical section sanctions it. They set an effective date. Which we can check under data.bsnl.in under my orders.

    3. If you change to Unlimited 750, you need to pay Rs. 1500 next month. RS. 750 as advance and Rs. 750 as rent.

    4. According to what they say if you see the word PROVISIONED in my orders "
you can consider your plan change to be effective from the date beside it. Please do not start using even if you see provisioned. Check the speed and confirm you have a plan change. If you have changed to Unlimited plan, then chargeable units should show zero.

Do not confirm with Customer care or local exchange. Senior Divisional Engineer (SDE) will be the right person to answer your queries. Ask for his number when you speak to local exchange or customer care.

    5. If your plan change is from 10th, your previously had Home - 250 and you changed to Unlimited 750. Then till 10th you should pay the charge as per Home 250. If you have exceeded 333 MB (1/3 of 1 GB) then you will have to pay for the extra usage, even if you shifted to an unlimited plan. And for the next 20 days you should pay (750/30 ) X 20 = 500.

All these happened to me when I changed from Home 250 to Unlimited 750. Just wanted to share that others need not suffer these surprises. But BSNL may have more in stock for you. Please share this with your friends who intend a plan change.

I expect a few reps. So please be generous.

Until 5th, you will be charged according to your present plan. That too if your monthly limit is 1GB, 4/30 X1 GB. Apart from that you have to pay. Unless you are so good at negotiating.

i had the home 500 c plan which limits the downloads to 1.5 gb/month...and i might like to know whom should i talk...who is responcible because this whole lot of problem of plan change never described by the authority. and one more thing also when i have taken the 750 ul plan then i have just used it for 25 days as first 5 days charged as my privious plan then are they giving any consession in that..??

    thanks for answering

You need not pay Rs. 750.

If you used for 5 days,

5/30 X1.5 GB is the allowed usage. 1 GB = 1028 MB. It comes around 250 MB. So the bill will be

    25/30 X 750 + Usage above 250 MB (@ 80 paise per MB).

There is a concession of 15 % on extra usage. ie, if you have used 1.5 GB extra for first 1GB, you have to pay at a rate of Rs.0.80/ MB. For next 0.5 GB, you will get 15 % concession. This is from April and still to implement. Please check with your local exchange.

For technical details and clarification, talk to the Senior Divisional Engineer (SDE).

For complaints, you can talk or given a written complaint to Nodal officer or Appellate authority. Address and phone no. on the backside of your bill.

Please note that BSNL will not take responsibility for these errors. We will have to pay the extra amount if you are not good a negotiator.
