What i feel:
The computer remains the property of the company
and Rs 2999/= is sort of security Deposit.
( Like the settop box for cable TV or DTH,
which remains the property of the providers)

This seems to be costly affair. Now a days almost anybody can afford a computer (may be 2nd sale for some) in such a case there is no extra charges except power consumption (though most of the software are pirated). But in the above model you have to pay regularly as all the application are hosted at a centralized server and the user of this service has to rely on this.

NOTE: Lot of open source free software are available free and can fulfill all our need and no need to use pirated software. These software are no resource hungry too.

Its not a computer. Its more like a set-top box that functions like a server terminal and uses an existing TV as a monitor and does not require any UPS.
All applications are hosted at the back end server and the device acts as a gateway to the server. There is no need for upgrades as that is managed at the back-end. Also as there is not much software in the box, the chances of a crash or a virus attack is also nil.
Some storage space is allowed at the server as part of the plan. The box also supports USB storage devices.
It provides openoffice (or MS Office if u pay for it additionally) realplayer and few other open source softwares and supports VOIP like GTalk, Skype etc. And it also allows full browsing.

It is a good option for those whose main purpose is surfing, checking mails and VOIP without needing to invest in a system. Like the senior citizens who mainly use a computer/internet to stay connected with their children/grandchildren staying at distant places.
