    Default BSNL DataOne Usage?

I'm using 500 Combo plan from BSNL. I switched off my PC and all other equipment incl. modem at 7.55 this morning and went away. When I checked my usage at bbservice.bsnl.in now, I found a session from 8.02 to 8.39 that used 700 MB! And this is included in my limited usage time. Now my usage has spiralled from 1.4 to 2+ GB. What can I do to prevent this from recurring?

firstly as everyone suggested change your password ..................
and if the problem continues make a written complain about the problem and report to the local BSNL office and also get a copy(of the complain) attested to certify that you have submitted a complain ............
and if i'm not wrong you would have to pay additionally as extra usage as if coz your usage cap is 1.5 GB .............
so i would preferably suggest you to complain about the problem to the local BSNL office and do keep a check of your usage and also verify yourself that nobody from your house have used it during that time period ...........

As suggested, please change your BSNL password immediately.
Also, it would be prudent to make a written complaint to BSNL. In most places DATAONE account is binded to your phone number and can not be accessed from another number. It appears perhaps at your town it is not so.
You can try requesting BSNL to bind your DATAONE account only to your phone number to avoid misuse.

I agree with u completly. Its not possible to access anybody's acocunt with others id & password. U r no is bound to your id & password.

It can happen again. So first check the event logs and lodge a written complaint (keep a copy). Otherwise, they will blame you for this.

Go to control panel> Administrative tools. It should have some record. (if i am wrong, somebody please correct)

Talk to the Senior Divisional Engineer (SDE), your usage should have your mac id. Confirm this. . If not, it is proved that someone is using your connection.

I didn't mention password change because it is well discussed above.

Hope you will find this useful, don't forget to share your plan on "How old is your connection".

A written complaint with receipt to Nodal officer and Appellate authority. Address and phone no on the backside of your bill.

Default The physics behind the BSNL WLL disconnection

    Heya Dilip,

    Hop u r doin good.

I ve been usin the BSNL WLL internet connection for the past 2 months and its about OK.

The only thing that irritates me is that the connection goes off in between after sometime. Well, since the payment s less, I m not complaining. But I m able to download movies from Torrent within a day or two. The max download speed in Torrent is around 16 kb, rarely shooting upto 18 K.

Now I wanna ask u something which I ve observed for the past few days.
My WLL server goes down whenever I switch ON say a Fan or tubelight in my room (where the WLL modem is placed).
Not only that, if my Mom switches on the light in the kitchen or fan in the living room, the WLL connection is lost and I ve to reconnect it.

Its kinda weird but i figure cuz WLL s wireless, mayb the switchin ON of appliances mite b disturbin the electromagnetic waves of internet connection or something, I dunno.

The internet connection s perfect@night as there r no appliances switched On @that time & everyone goes to sleep.

This is my observation for the past few days.

Can u cum up wit an explanation regarding this?

If you connect the WLL unit & computer to a power supply board, having a surge limiter, the problem may disappear.
please try and give feed back.
    Thanks for the information.

actually, somebody else from ur area is using ur username and password.

Change ur Password.if u don't know how to then tell BSNL to change for u(call them).

Also if u use wifi then put security in that.mention ur modem's details.

YES. with some 3 LED lights , showing
    status etc.
    @imrock
the problem for @waterdale is different.Using FULL QUOTE and giving suggestion ,unrelated to the problem may be kindly avoided.

    Heya.

    Thanks for ur reply.

I use a laptop and since both laptop and WLL run on batteries apart from AC power, I unplugged both devices (including the adaptor end fr WLL FWT device) and ran em on their resp batteries. I switched ON the lights, fan and turned the fan regulator from low to high speed. The internet connection was undisturbed.

Then,I plugged on my laptop and did the same. The internet connection did not falter.

Lastly, I plugged on the WLL device to an extension box equivalent to that of a power board like u mentioned.I did the same and then the connection went kaput.

I tried all this again this time switchin ON the light and fans in the kitchen and sittin room and the connection didnt falter in the 1st two instances.

I ll try connecting it to my TV stabiliser later tonite and see whats happening.

NEway, thanx for ur input. ll let u kno wats happenin.

    Cheers!!!

    @waterdale
    Thanks for the detailed report.
You are on the right track.
    1
    .UPS
Earlier, we discussed in forum/s the modem ONLY
disconnecting during ( laptop on battery )
    power surge .
The only solution was to connect
the modem Power input (If DC)
Directly to the Battery of an UPS supply.
( taking care about Voltage etc).
The surge should not exceed approx 25 milliseconds.
    2.
    INVERTER
Later An online Inverter was considered
where the mains is converted to D.C
( keeps the battery on Float charge)
and again converted to AC, isolating
    the power surges/ power off
    to keep the connection 24/7..

    3
    TESTS:
    (A)
    PHASE CHANGE
If you have a 3 Phase supply, you may try keeping
computer supply to different phase from
    Fridge/kitchen/fans etc. ( not tried)
    ( Incidentally my Modem/WIFI router/Vonage unit/cordless
all connected to 117V ( auto transformer)

    (B)
    STABILISER
TV stabiliser is an auto transformer, with relay circuits
to keep the voltage constant. ( changes the taps in the
    transformer during voltage fluctuations )

If the Power supply is stable , there won't
    be a change over surge.
Will solve your problem I think.

    Please give feedback.

    Heya Essbebe,

I connected my WLL modem to a power board with surge protector, but its still the same.

The connection goes off upon switching ON other appliances.

I asked my cousin who s an Electrical Engineer and what he tells is that since its wireless, the internet connection is conducted through waves. The problem has something to do with disturbance of frequency of wave and harmonics of waveconduction upon switchin ON appliances, wich mite in turn disrupt the connection wave pattern. According to him, its got nothing to do with the power cuz if it had anything to do with the power problem, the surge protector would have disabled or controlled it.

NEway, I giv up. No use breakin my head over this issue.I The BSNL authorities have created the device in such a way that it would not b very very useful after all.

I ll try to use it in battery during the daytime. The battery works for roughly arnd 2-3 hrs. I ve no issues with it after midnight.

NEWay, Thanx for ur inputs. I really appreciate it. Well, it was worth a try.

    Take care,

    Cheers!!!

SORRY. Very bad/wrong explanation from an Electrical Engineer !

Check the Ground connection in your house electrical wiring.

    Test :
If you have a Portable AM/FM radio,
you will hear Hum when tubelight/s are on in AM Band , but not in FM band. (88- 108 Mhz)
IN WLL the frequency involved is
very much higher ( not sure about freq )

WLL ( Wireless Local Loop) .. The Antenna is mounted on top of the building.
Your telephone calls/incoming outgoing are in wireless mode.
    same way for BB connection.
    ( Same like a cordless phone )
BSNL is base stn: Yours: handset

    Give details of the
    (a) WLL phone and
    (b)modem supplied.
    (c)Details of the power adapter.
