Default 1350 UL Slow connection only on torrents

    Hi guys...

I live in a place where it is not a town nor a vilalge..

we got BB jsut a week before..

i have opted for 1350 UL plan...

    and modem is WA3002G4

I am new user .. my speed on http downloads are around 55KBPS

and on torrents i get only around 50KBPS

there is more than 20 % loss of allocated bandwidth.. We did a speedtest on the day on installation and found the same result , the technicain told me that it may be due to new equipments installed in my exchange which are not tweaked or optimized..

in my area they are bussiness guys who have got 2 mbps limited connection...

    What shall i do ??

i hjave port formwarded , opened the half-connection , patched TCPip.sys file , disabled auto-tunning feature in my Vista ..

What else should i do ..

should i have to change anything in the router page... like disable that G.192... etc....

    please help ..

i just want to max out the connection...

i am using utorrent and have KIS 2009

If you getting speed of around 50 ~ 55 kB/sec....then you are getting the expected speed. On 1350 UL plan...the Max speed you can get is 60 kB/sec...

    thnks rameshjee....

but when i used airtel in chennai on my grandma`s house.. i used 256 kbps ul coinnection and got a speed of around 30-33 kbps...

actually for 512 i need to get 64 kbps speeed na.. 512/8 =64

    then with 50kbps on my case.. i am loosing around 14kbps which equaals 14x8 = 112kbps ( >20 % )

i just opted for this plan to get max speed...

but why is there a 60 kbps reach on http download... ???

yes naveen your top speed should be 64 kbps... but what happens is the quality of the wire used and the distance from exchange also affects ... so it may be due to the wire they use as they dont use new wires for the connections they just use a already used wire so it may affect, there are many other reasons too ..... just speed check in speedtest.net and post the results ...

Got your point....Make sure your telephone line is clear without any disturbance. & please post your SNR & attenuation details. & how far is the exchange from your home & did your verify the speed with your neighbors...

@naveen: u said u get 60 from everywhere that is good means ur isp is giving u bandwidth that you've paid for, but when downloading torrents its different ball game it depends upon the nos of seeds and how much DL rate u get from them see this pic there are 12+ seeds and i am getting optimum DL rate according to my plan my plan speed is 300kbps(37.5KBPS) but i am getting 37.8KBPS, bottom line is more the seeds with high download rate from them=good DL speed.

    thnks for the reply..

i knew the wires need to be good ... ( experienced from my past BB connections.. ) , thats why i asked the guys to put a new line from the juction on the street.. to home..

i have added a photo .. to show the nature of the wire.. the black one is the one which comes to the home.. is it good ?? i mean those wires are old ones na ?? the white one is the one which goes from my juction box to modem..via splitter ... the white is new na ?? i mean nowadays they use this white one only na... ??

here is the pic of snr... hope its the right poage i took snapshot..

the black one is the Drop point cable... it is used to connect outside the house ie from pole or DP box to home & white is to be used only for a short distance.

The white cable can not be used for long distance as the thickness of the copper cable inside is very thin compared to the black wire.... what they have used it correct but what you can do is just check form the Drop off point to your splitter how many joints you have...! there should be as less joints as possible... then your line will be good... checking you SNR ratio etc... will update on it soon

    thnks kiran :

kiran i asked the line man to put new wire.. since the present line was not working for more than a year and we didnt know where the line is. so the line now is NEW !! no joints.. straight from the street junction...

    @jatinder

thnks ... i cant see the photo.. can u reduce the size..

    Naveen, it's quite simple really:

    1. The speeds you are getting are more or less normal for UL 1350.
    2. Torrent download speeds depend a lot on the "availability" of the file in question. The speed you will get on a torrent will depend on a number of factors for example, the number of seeders. Seeders are people who have the complete file and are uploading it. So if a file has 2 seeders and both are on a very slow network, you will get bad speeds.

Seeder is a user who has a full copy of the content in this torrent. They are either the original distributor or someone who has completed the download and is just uploading.

Leecher is a user who disconnects as soon as he has a complete copy of a particular file. A hit-and-runner is a leecher who completes the download, but doesn’t seed until they reach a ratio of 1.0. These hit-and-run users are often called leechers, as in the parasite, the blood-sucker that lives in the tropics.

Peer is a user who has begun downloading this torrent and does not have a full copy as of yet.

You will see the above Statistics (Seeder/Leecher/Peer) in torrent web sites and torrent clients labelled S/L/P however L and P are often confused.

Just make sure to get a good torrent client (vuze/azureus or mu torrent) and get torrents that are well seeded.

dude seeders limit their UL rate for ex some seeders can UL at 50KBPS+ but they limit it to 4-5KBPS to save Bandwidth if u get low speeds then its because of slow UL rate set by the seeders, i hope u get me this time

Your attenuation is very good so lines are ok. But snr margin are bit low. I get upstream 33/34 and downstream 19/20. I have the same modem but my plan is H500C my avg d/l in torrent 92 kB. But past 3-4 day it is very low avg d/l 30 kB

are u talking about my snr..

guys its true ... public torrents suck...

    its simple guys ..

lets take 10 people are sharing with a speed of 10 kbps whcih totals upto 100 kbps total.

if 10 people download then they get a average of 10 kbps virtually...

wht if 20 people are downloading ? then it halves..

but in case of private t\, the leechers are less and seeders hav eto seeda lot to maintain thier ratio....

now i get a average of 55kbps on demonoid , TPB is slow...

guys how to say my line is good by seeing thae snr values

dude keep in mind that seeders also cap their UL speeds for ex. a seeder can UL at the rate of 50KBPS but he limits to 4-10 KBPS to maximize his DLs.

Depends on telephone line... Try using both... Choose what gives u a stable & speedy connectivity... For me G.DMT worked better... But for some ADSL2+...

Its there in the router settings... Find & change the mode!

But if you are facing no problem with your connection, then better is to keep it the way it is!

i heard that adsl2+ is twice speedier than adsl ..

i heard that it can handle large bandwidth..

corrct me if i am wrong..

thought i would change to adsl2+ since by speed is 512
