Thumbs down India's ranking as per speed

Friends as per some recent survey India has been ranked a pathetic 115 in the known world. It says the average speed in india is 772 kb/s as compared to the global average of 1.5mb/s.Well no guess here that as some say our "nearest competitor" China is ranked 2nd or 3rd behind U.S.If this negative trend of indian ISP is going to continue then I must say i am ashamed of them.

this is no news... we are all aware of indian isps...
i'm afraid it looks like this scenario is here to stay unless the government takes some action, which is a long shot

    Yes! Its indeed shameful.

Whats worse is the fact that instead of working on increasing speeds and connectivity, our ISPs are now concentrating on FUP schemes. This will just worsen the scenario.

Though I think a few companies are making a genuine attempt to serve the customers well

why bsnl surely is working for broadband penetration and wants to compete globally that is why it has not introduced the fup siht and look at all the promotional schemes off bsnl

its somewhat better now,5 years back we were on dial ups and we used to pay more than thousand rupees

even private compaines like airtel tata, reliance arent arent giving better speeds than bsnl ,so basciallythey are also not intrested to provide high speeds

and still there is no sign of voip in india

reliance is the one who gives speeds as advertised all day long with 0%latency and their network is backed by optic fiber does BSNL gives that?

    nil latency

i don't think any isp around in india apart from reliance dsl can give u that speed 24x7 and latency free network.

    see the prices dude

only bsnl is giving internet at affordable rate

yes bsnl network is not excellent, but bsnl was the first company to give adsl broadband in india at cheaper price

bsnl has more broadband users than reliance and bsnl covers almost all parts of the country

bsnl shud invest more in broadband and increase the speeds

i wud never take reliance internet connection

u need a good leader to guide bsnl ,just like dayanidhi maran did

    i have hopes on railware

well i have not told u to get reliance DSL, u can call a isp gr8 if u get 100%speed all time with 0%latency, i don't think BSNL will reach there with his old copper wire network!!!

I FEEL THERE IS NO PROBLEM OF LOCAL LEADS EXCEPT WHEN the customer is at the far end like 4 to 5 KM from the switch location. Leave the brand names, telecom and electrical technology, and internet & networking principles remain same. a cable can be low insulation, or un-paired, so may not behave well. I know of cables that work well that are almost 50 years old as seen from today. The words 0% latency and 100 % speed are non existent in communication technology.

At what cost Reliance gives OF to home? and whar are monthly charges and limits of speed and download volume?

dude believe or not i have flood pinged to 6000 replies of 1024bytes load not even an single packet get lost either u have not experienced this and that's why u r saying "words 0% latency and 100 % speed are non existent in communication technology"

reliance DSL is very different,i tell how it works, from a reliance BTS(base transceiver station) optic fiber wire is taken to switch located in my area its basically a large cisco Ethernet device from that device 4pair cat5 wire is taken to our homes, they don't use old single pair telephone copper cable to give connection, reliance DSL gives speeds ranging from 75kbps to 10mbps.

I think that you are tring to compare a National capital specific service (may be top priority area and the India in general. Please have a feel of all the posters opinions on reliance, across the nation. I feel that we should take and average and talk.

    Code:
    1 Mbps	1799	500 MB
    Right ?

Is fair usage policy implemented for your connection ?
