Default UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 own wireless network not detected but other networks detected

    Hi,

I am using BSNL Broadband with UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 as my Type 2 Modem. I am using PPPoE. Wired connection works fine. But wireless is not always detectable by my laptop. My laptop can detect other wireless networks however. Sometimes, when I switch the modem off and on several times, it gets detected. but this happens just once in a while.

Please let me know what I can do to detect the network.

    Thanks,
    Lakshmi

Please try Wireless settings unsecured first.
Then go for WPA or WEP security keys.
Hope this link will help you to correct the settings.

    or

Understand you can connect in LAN mode.

Keep the WIFI router nearer to computer laptop.
    How is the signal strength?

Post ipconfig /all ( *note space after ipconfig)
START RUN type cmd type ipconfig /all

Hi Thanks for the response. I tried what you said and it works. but everytime I want to use wireless, first I connect via chord, remove security and then enable security and then it works. Is there any fix to this?

Please see Chennai web site page in the end.
    4.

Type against WPA Pre Shared key -a key , for example say 12345678
    5.

    Click Save./ Apply

    6.

    [COLOR="black"] Click Management

    7.

    Select Save/Reboot
    8.

    Click Save/ Reboot
    9.

This completes the wireless security configuration
Probably you are not saving the settings properly.
    Feedback please.

That too did not work. I am now planning to use my brother's D-Link modem and Linksys router.

Please let me know if there is something else I can do to make my BSNL modem work, since I would prefer that anytime.

After almost a month after starting the thread, this
kind of cryptic post will not help.

Summarise the posts in the thread.

Post links for screen shot of the concerned wireless settings pages. or as annexure here.

actually it happens to my connection also .. when i try to find my wifi thru ps3..

go to wireless page .. hit save / apply again and then try to serach ... it will work..

i dont know why it happens..

and also a better security would be to MAC address denial rather than password...

    since passwords can be broken..

I am also facing the same problem of non detection of wireless connection with the above modem but with a difference.

I am using BSNL Broadband with UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 as my Type 2 Modem and using PPPoE. Wired connection works fine and also wireless without security. But once password protection is enabled, wireless is not always detected by my laptop. My laptop detects other wireless networks whether security enabled or not. But there seemss to be some problem with my own modem detection in password enabled connection mode. If I try switching off, on, refreshing etc the connection is detected but with great difficulty.

What may be the problem with my system and any solutions for the same?

I tried open network (without security) and MAC enabling. But when I typed the MAC address of my laptop it says the MAC address is invalid.

Please let me know what I can do to detect the network in a password protected environment.

    Thanks

    Annan...

    1.Check in WLAN settings page.
On top box WLAN card details given.
    Select 'Configure.
    Check Enabled.
    Also drivers update.
    'Advanced'
    The mode selected ssid etc..

2.Mention the model/make of WLAN card.
    3.Try "Always ON" mode.
    4.Try Unsecured WIFI connection.

    Default BSNL Broadband

    Thanks for the reply essbebe.
But the problem of non detection of wireless network still persists whenever the security is enabled. Otherwise (security open situation) the wireless network is detected and connected as soon as the modem is up and running.

If your WIFI network is detected, and you can surf
in Wifi mode with unsecured connection, you
are not entering the proper WPA code.
See this link for screenshots and instructions.
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...reference.html (UTSTAR WA3002-G4 quick reference)
    Or
if this appears too complicated try the MAC
address option for only your laptop.

Post screen shot /s of the router wireless pages
    as jpg annexure here.

hi...even i have the same router and i was facing the same problem of non detection of wireless network when security was enabled....i am facing this problem since i upgraded my firmware(earlier it was fine) tho everything else is working fine(m using pppoe bridge mode which is relatively safer wrt security).....

so...instead of security enabled i resorted to MAC filter mode....there ....enter(in ur modem) ur pc/laptop MAC address as AB:CD:EF:GH:IJ:KL instead as AB-CD-EF-GH-IJ-KL...and it will accept ur MAC address......

also i restricted the amount of clients connecting to router to 1 (since i have only 1 laptop) .... and also i kept access point to hidden......i hope that this helps with the problem of security.....
