    Exclamation Strange Problem

I have two Desktop winXP SP 2. i am using BB from both the PC. But after using net from particularly one PC the theme of the internet explorer changes to classic look and BB stops working. but from other PC, everything is normal. I have formatted that particular PC 2 - 3 times but the problem remains unsolved. I have used both pppoe and bridge mode but no result. I have scaned with Norton, NOD, Trojan remover, Mal ware bytes etc. no virus, malware detcted? Now please suggest me what to do????

I have tried IE6, IE7, firefox3. All the browsers are showing problem. The desktop screen gives a jark and changes theme for a moment and stop working. After rebooting the machine I can use net for another 5 - 10 min and then again it happens and regarding screen shot, at this moment it is not possible as when it shows the problem I shall post here.

I have checked with Norton AV and also many other antivirus . Then format the machine, again I connect net without antivirus but the results are same. Some times I got an error massage say "generic win32 process has caused an error and needs to be shut down" and the problem starts. sometimes without any error massage.

No dude. I have just formatted that machine 1 hour ago. so there should not be any application which may change the look, at least I have not install any such application.

And I could not get your "Annexure will be deleted if thread closes". Why the thread will close. I think I am not breaking forum rule.

Default Retaining Annexures indefinitely or weeding out

Annexure will be deleted if thread closes.
    Sorry.
    What I wanted to say
I will remove MY annexure pics, when the thread is closed
Because some storage LIMIT can be there, for space provided, by forum for Annexures, I like to retain only important data.

See for Private messages : there is a limit of 50

You raise a problem. But then Format the Hard disk.
    Problem disappears.
Nobody knows, how the problem appeared and the
    real solution.
Fit case for locking/closing this thread !

Annexure in my post deleted by me today , saving about 56KB storage space.

Please check the Auto-matic updates settings as sometimes an update causes the system to get unstable ................

Maybe because of some means auto-matic updates, virus etc. your winsock where getting corrupted .............. this happens to be one the reasons of internet problems related to Windows OS...........
but, congrats you resetted everything up ............
But yeah do look around what all you update and if you find a specific update causing this problem just roll-back that update ......

I think you also have to format the HDD of drive D: E: whatever you have. Only format the drive C: can't resolve the problem, because if there is a virus still on you rest of the drive D: E: then when ever you install the OS the virus spread from your Extended Pertition. So go to DOS mod by pressing the F8 key. If your pertition have NTFS file system the go to Administrative Tools from Control Panel then in Administrative Tools go to Disk Management then select your drive D: E: whatever you have and fromat those. After format those Pertition dont open those drive, just restart your computer and boot from your XP CD then fromat your C Drive and install.
Without format those Extended Drive the problem can't be solve.
    Remember to install the firewall.

@ Indranil, Thank you for your good sugession. But there is a problem. I have 250GB HDD and except C drive all the partitions are full. If I fromat those drive then my data will be totaly lost. and @ the rate other my problem reapears and it is still disturbing me a lot.

even if virus is present in other drives then C it can not activate until you launch it by double clicking.after formatting c drive don't do anything except installing an antivirus & scan the whole system.by not doing anything i mean don't even click other drives icon in my computer too.

@robert_0007 you can use pen drive or another HDD to backup the data, if possible. But remember when you transfer the data from the back up Drive to your original drive you should have a good antivirus install on your system. You can use Kaspersky Internet Security.

do not disable MS updates , a lot of important MS updates protect your computer from various vulnerabilities.. like the recent Internet Explorer vulnerability. Your Antivirus wouldnt help you there..

I got some screen shots during the last time problem. It was also observed that after the happening of the problem, I could not disconnect the Dial up BB connection. Even the status of the connection also does not open. When I right click the connection icon and click on change widows firewall setting it says "Windows firewall setting can not be displayed............. screen shot is attached. The theme of the internet explorer changes to classic looks, ( The screenshot is attached) Some time XP task bar changes to classic look. But after restarting all the setting looks normal and internet again start working.

try installing a third party firewall and configure it to ask for permission everytime a software tries to access the net.
also install the demo version of Kaspersky and scan whole system.
